My wife got me the Rough country high clearance bumper with 20” light bar and 9500lb winch as a gift. Should look like this when I’m done as long as I don’t screw up my cuts.

Nice. Doesn’t look too difficult. Just be sure to double check your measurements. BTW, you’ve got a keeper!

Thanks yeah she has been good to me this year. Been ok with me doing a bunch to my truck all at once. Put off any mods for 4 years to make 100% sure I was keeping the truck long term. Now I’ve lifted, new tires and wheels, black out rear bumper panels, black side steps, new exhaust, OTT tune, ditch lights, and auxbeam switch kit. Going to take a break for a while and work on posting all the take offs so I can recoup a little cash. Then next mod I’d like is a roof rack and a rear topper rack for some extra space. That will probably be a next year project though this year I just need to do another application of undercoating and do 30k service.

Which radio did you get? I purchased the MXT115 micromobile and love it. At times I wish I’d have gotten the 50 watt radio but so far the 15 watt has done shockingly well at reaching the repeater where I didn’t think it would.

That’s good to hear because I also purchased the MXT115 Micromobile with the 3db Gain Ghost Antenna. Which antenna are you using? I also have a 4’ Firestik antenna for my Uniden PRO505XL CB, and got a reading of 1 on ch1 and ch20 and a reading of 1.2 on ch40 with my SWR meter.

Right now just the standard antenna. I have an antenna that was built by my dad that I’m gonna try this upcoming season but I wanted to see what the standard antenna could get me. One of the local repeaters here is pretty good and I can reach it about 70 miles away with the base antenna. It does start to get a little static but can easily transmit. Very pleased with an affordable option!

Sweet. Let me know how your dad’s antenna works out. Not sure I can use the Firestik because of frequency range.

Will do! He’s a HAM and GMRS guy so he’s way more into it than I am, I’m not smart when it comes to all the internal workings of these radios. I guess it’s an antenna he bought and tuned it to GMRS…added a spring and pivot elbow. So these GMRS antennas get trimmed to tune. As far as a firestick, it may be able to be tuned to the GMRS ranges, not sure…would be interesting to find out. I love the firestick brand from my CB days

I’ll research some more and find out if I can use the Firestik with GMRS. Is the antenna you’re currently using the one that comes with the radio? I ordered mine directly from Midland, otherwise it would’ve already been here. Love the fact that Midland radios are still made in Kansas City and Firestik is still made in Arizona. Come to think of it, the Rago Fabrication antenna mount is made in the USA also. They’re a veteran owned small business.

Yep! I ordered it from Midland directly also. It’s the little antenna that looks like a wire sticking up. Shocked at how well it works.

Well, that was ridiculously easy. .

I got a cheapo pocketed bed net off ebay a while ago to store the things I carry everywhere. A couple tarps and my bag with tug strap, soft shackles tire repair kit tie downs bungee straps jump starter and a few tools. I climbed into the bed armed with carbiners, zip ties and those stick on screw thingys that come with these nets.

Turns out the net's loops fit perfectly around my tonneau cover fasteners and support arms! I wish everything went that well!
