    Trail Drinkwater?

I took a drive before the game and was tickled to find some trails that were opened by the Angeles National Forest office. Good stuff. 6N24 looked like fun, but I wasn’t packing a chainsaw so I turned around. Water was moving fast.

It's been many many years since I've been up there...

If you like steep hillclimbs though, you'll like that one.

Thank you for responding 4x4Junkie. Yeah, it looks like a killer climb. That boulder makes a nice welcome for you super high clearance rigs. Good stuff.

Used to live down the street. Rode my dual sport bikes around that area weekly. Don't recall it ever looking so rough.

I went back there the day after and decided to enter the area from a different road and I ended up getting turned around big time. I recall I saw the other end of 6N24, so that’s when I knew I was not where I thought I was.

Does look like nice riding and plenty of it.

I actually prefer DWF to Rowher flats. For off road motorcycling. Didn't do too much 4 wheeling there though.

Hear hear. Some of those trails were littered with junk I didn’t care too much for.

Angeles National Forest is going to be at Rower Flats this weekend as per FB. I think I’m going to go and ask a few questions.

Like 3N17. That trail was bad ass. It lead to so much beautiful scenery it was crazy. I know after the fires, they shut it down. I would love to take a drive again thru that area. Great camping spots.

I just remembered I had a photobucket account. Shoot, it’s still active. I found these two photos.

That campground was fun to get to from what I remember. Hoping they say 3N17 is OPEN for business.

The Pacifico side is closed now, but I went up to Gleason a few weeks ago. I'm assuming 3n17 continues up to Magic Mountain so people can get up to the comm site and work on it, as the other side from Sand Canyon is washed out - again.

@Topanga Taco Do you know if 6n24 is open at Lake Hughes Road?

I’ll have to ask about 3N17, that was such a cool drive.

Im not sure about 6N24 heading to Lake Hughes, as that was my first time in that area.

Spoke to ANF yesterday at Rowher Flats and he said that 3N17 at Mount Pacifico is OPEN

For me, by far, one of the coolest backcountry drives that is a stone throw away from L.A.

I took a drive there again yesterday, and couldn’t locate 6N24 that led to Lake Hughes. There were however, quite a few locked ANF gates around that area.

Thats been my experience up there for quite some time now...
It finally discouraged me from going to Angeles Forest anymore.
Once in awhile I might still hit up Rowher (maybe camp for a night by the oak trees), but that's about it.
For better adventures I head up around Lockwood Valley (when trails are open), or further out to the desert, Big Bear, etc.

Perhaps I need to find a current map showing what is actually still open in Angeles. I can't remember the last time I was around Pacifico or Gleason. Good to know something is open besides Drinkwater and Rowher.

Spoken well brother. I too go to Lockwood, desert. I enjoy it there a lot. Los Padres has the road closed off for the winter, but you can still get around possibly through the 33. There are two trails down there with no gates.

Looking forward to 3N17. I recall the entrance via Osborne St. has an area where wheelers play. I remember deep ruts and stuff. Good stuff.

mind sharing any info for a first timer? I promise I am not an instagrammer or tik toker :D and follow all trail etiquette. I am just new and looking to explore local trails.
I am looking on onX to find a route-is 3n17 also called Pacifico mtn road? is the trail too technical for a stock OR?

Trail Limo, all good man. I’ve been doing it since I picked up my second Tacoma. From a 4 banger two seater to a 2005(foggy memory) PreRunner. I liked that truck. AC, 6’ bed. Was a cool truck until I took it to Gorman.:anonymous:

R.I.P Brian. Miss you. The picture was taken at a trail in the lower Angeles area. Upper Big Tujunga. Sweet trail, but I’m not sure if it is open. I’ll be taking a drive up there soon. Been such a long time. I don’t harvest wood up there anymore.

3N17 can be entered from either Angeles Highway heading towards Palmdale. It’s on the left if heading north and once you come to the crest, or off Osborne St. off the 210.

Some of the most beautiful scenery so close to L.A. However, the Station Fire. It closed it off for years. Now the Forest Ranger said it was open. But what is there to see? Did the fire take it all away. So many gorgeous views. One in particular that was unfortunately driven on.

Lake Hughes or the reservoir in the background looking out toward Lancaster?

There were other trails I took. But it’s been a long time.

BTW, anyone ever hike up to Strawberry Peak via the back way?

haha, well I know some of my other hobbies aren't too keen on influencers coming in and burning out spots for likes.
I like to explore and camp solo with my girl, I wont be posting trails or kool places I learn about here, I know we like to keep these beautiful areas clean and crowd-fee
