Takes a little time and mileage to mentally file every distinct noise these trucks will make, and they’re almost always considered normal. Good news is plenty of owners here can instantly tell you if it’s within normal parameters or something to actually worry about, which is rare.

Make no mistake, even in Limited trim, at heart all Gen3’s are proudly unrefined, yet stubbornly reliable, lovable little beasts.

Cool! Yeah that’s why I figured I better ask the people who drive these everyday to make sure the dealer wasn’t trying to get away with one. Good to know it’s a normal popping sound.

Good to know everything’s still great even while hearing that popping noise within 10 feet. I guess I’ll be cranking up the music now that I know it’s a normal noise. Thanks!

Leveled with Bilstein 5100 shocks, Falken Rubitrek AT 265/75 tires, Redline hood struts, R4T tailgate lock, Matt Gecko LED strips in bed and under hood, WeatherTech hood guard, OEM bed mat, Husky floor mats, Carhart seat covers, Grille replacement with Toyota letters, Sony AX6000 head unit, OTT lite/mild tune, and an occasional splash of fuel additive.
My Tacoma has some clunks, engine clicks, wind whistles, tire whines, and an occasional vibration. I consider it all normal. My neighbors Dodge has a strange noise he’s been chasing for a few years now. These trucks are powerful machines and have many complex moving parts that open, close, shrink and swell. Add varied weather conditions, road changes, and our lust to tweak and modify and it all seems a needle in a haystack to track down a problem that is probably not. I just drive it, listen to the radio and try not to worry about it.

Asking if this size tire will rub…. To be asked again the following week…

Smart move! This is the way lol!!!

If I didn’t have a partial disability to my right leg I would totally have searched for a 6-speed manual. My Honda accord was a 6-speed manual and it was fun to drive until my injury in 2017.

    Holy thread resurrection

And yes, you're the only one to get the reference so far.
