Maybe someday someone will take 10 seconds a put a tape measure on the front seat.
Probably not though. It’s better to keep speculating.

We could just believe the chief engineer when he said it was lifted a bit over an inch in the videos from last spring

It might not be quite that easy.

The distance from the floor to the driver’s ass plane is one thing (and that alone isn’t exactly hard science) but the driver’s perspective is something else.

I’d be more concerned about this if I were purchasing a fighter aircraft.

    For now, I’m just curious.

The big question is did they keep the Tacoma magic or not . Remember as much as people would complain about stuff , there was always something about the Tacoma that would draw you too it. Hopefully that’s the case with the new one . This will be something that remains to be seen . Right now in the beginning at least . The 24 will sell because of its past . Hopefully Toyota was smart and aren’t relying on this .

I won't realistically be looking to purchase until the hybrids are available. I felt completely satisfied with the normal powertrain, but it will be nice to actually know what kind of difference the hybrid makes before I decide.

I feel like they certainly did, I don't even care to go look at the new Ranger or GM twins after looking at the Tacoma in person.

They mention in all their videos that it was one of their top focus to keep that "Tacoma DNA" in the truck, and I think they knocked it out of the park based on my preliminary feelings.

Seeing it in person, virtually every single part has changed, yet it’s eerily familiar to me. Underneath, the chassis is a 4Runner on steroids.

Setting aside the elephant in the room (value), if the goal was meeting very restrictive regulations while improving performance & capability, fending off competition that suddenly got very serious, and replacing a very popular predecessor, it seems to me like they pretty much nailed the target.

I predict the Stout will be available right around the same time as solid state batteries. AKA never.

Seems like the Stout would be a Maverick rival. Maverick vs Ranger (same trim level) is 10K less. If the Stout is only slightly lower than a new Tacoma, which is slightly more than a new Ranger, the Stout would end up competing with the Ranger.

Semi-serious question / ponder: I wonder when the hydrogen taco will be unveiled.

Almost all of the businesses in this area that have purchased EVs for their fleet have now back-lotted them. Things like "it's under 35 degrees today, the range has been cut to 80 miles, less than a day's work" seemed to have annoyed them, for some inexplicable reason.

The one that came up yesterday was an E-Transit. Note the part about the ambient temperature.

Nissan Leaf comes to mind. Not sure how much the newer ones get.
