It may have value as a museum piece we have a place called Bonanzaville they have it set up as small village. But as you go through the entrance they have items, sort of on loan that have the owners name and a brief history about them. Mostly military though the ages on both sides.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/china d---err, dudes. We ended up unofficially getting 8" - 10" of snow in the quick storm that blew through here early yesterday. It was really strange because everywhere around us got 2" - 5" except for a thin strip of higher amounts right around where we live. @Devious6 my phone must have warned me about snow squalls half a dozen times yesterday, but we never really got any! Drove me nuts.

I'll be diving back into the tax morass today. This is our first year doing estimated taxes and it's a little unnerving if I'm honest. Apparently the government is happy to penalize you if you don't get it right! I did my best, so we'll see what happens.
Interesting history there, thanks for sharing. My ex-wife's stepfather was from Germany. He got drafted at the age of 14, late in the war, when Germany was running out of adult men to send to the front lines. He was glad to go into the army because there was no food for civilians and he got square meals in the military. He was given a used uniform, shoes that didn't fit, and a rifle that looked like it was from the previous war. The war ended before he saw any action. He came to the US just a couple of years later, made a living as a mason, raised a family, and eventually married an American serviceman's widow. Quite the circle of life.

I can’t imagine being forced to go from being a beekeeper to years of fighting and ultimately dying for a cause the man didn’t believe in.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Sunny and almost to 40 after overnight freeze. Going to be 80 by midweek. Go figure. Still quite sore, but not in constant pain anyway. Guess I will live. Need to make some waffles in a few.

This gentleman is correct! A few years ago I replaced all the tube lights in the five fixtures in my garage with LED lights purchased from SuperBrightLEDS. Smart move ..... more light, more efficient, and NO MORE BALLASTS !!

Who else has has back surgery to remove a cyst on the L4-5 disc, causing terrible sciatica leg pain for over a year?
I did two weeks ago after all other attempts failed to shrink it. The sciatica is gone! But, the surgery healing is really taking all my energy! They say 6 weeks is normal recovery... and when I can hot tub again!

Wehrpass is your service record. Generally kept at the unit HQ. In Germany, once discharged, you keep those until age 60; for those KIA, it is sent to the closest relative. You only travel with your Pay Book (Soldbuch) while on active duty.

Stellungkämpfe is trench warefare. Lake Ladoga (near Lennigrad, aka St. Petersburg).

I've been enjoying "Masters of the Air." I've told the stories of my friend's Dad, a belly gunner on a B17. His grandparents were from Germany and came to the USA around 1870; learned German from his grandparents. He bailed out over five times; once, he wasn't sure if he landed on the US or the German side; On a foggy morning, he yelled "Nicht schießen" (don't shoot) only to realize it was an American troop on patrol. They promptly locked him up for five days until his CO vouched for him.

I did get a chance to go up in the Aluminum Overcast (EEA's B17) a few years back. Walking from the front to the back during a flight is a trip!

Good morning. Unfortunately bought the ballast. I already had the LED tubes, but they work with the ballast. I will look into other options for the next failure. Going to teach my son how to replace the ballast today. Other than replacing the ballast it will be a laid-back day.

Got my exercise yesterday shoveling the last of the snow off the sidewalks and patio. All ready for the next snow…LOL!
Workout day today! Kettlebell here I come! Can hardly wait to get it over, shower, then nap time! Ha ha ha! Cleaning ladies will show up about the time I want to nap.
Have a wonderful day and get some sun if you can.

Morning all. Attic clean out is DONE and every part of me is sore. Must have taken 50 trips up and down the attic stairs plus all the bending and twisting navigating around roof trusses. I bet I asked myself a dozen times how did you get something so heavy so far away from the attic hatch? I have the Acura loaded with stuff for Goodwill and the truck bed is loaded to roof level with stuff for the dump.

There are 2 kinds, one needs the ballast the other takes it both ways. It just saves ladder time.
