And that's where, as you've noticed, I place tons of emphasis

I did, but at least I wasn’t going into debt for it. The masters has helped me get in the door for some interviews I’d say. It shows you can commit to a project and see it through, even if the subject of my thesis is pretty niche. I might look into doing another MS focusing more on remote sensing or something like that.

Yea I mean I did apply to some geotech jobs for some engineering firms, but no dice. I did look into mud logging, but I’d be on the road away from home and working night shifts starting out, so it didn’t really seem worth it to me personally.

I'm not too worried abotu that - people who don't understand the code they paste are going to have a hell of time building or maintaining anything complex.

I'm also reallly curious how things are going to go as the internet gets polluted with so much AI generated stuff.

I'm definitely going to have to learn how to hustle if I ever want to get out of the office.

It’d be worth it. Youre not tied down right now. What better way to branch out? Mud loggers usually work 2 on/2 off. Exposure to a badass industry with access to endless opportunity and knowledge. I’ve met some great and knowledgeable people in the oilfield.

Edit: Nights are awesome since you don’t have to deal with the real boss men.

This is where mentality plays a role as well

What I mean is, you'll find a means of providing a service people will pay for (that you alone can provide) because, even if work ceased for you and many others in your industry, doesn't mean that it affects everyone

I say this because I remember a specific member here talking about vehicle sales and the economy and "why would someone spend $90k on a truck"

Just cause you're not spending it, doesn't mean someone else isn't able to

I’m sure it could be for the right person. The night shifts are what killed it for me. I can’t screw with my circadian rhythm like that lol.
