Finished! This used to be an oak veneer desk. Posting it here to keep @hiPSI 's woodwork company. :)

How long does one have to spend on a Mountain to become a Mountain Man? Like my visit to Pikes Peak when I was a kid probably doesn't qualify right?

    Everything
Back home from the first day at the new job. Went great. Now to finish up these blades. Just touched off a new 6fl 1/4” endmill to help eat this tough stainless nitro-v steel.

I've lived on top of this "mountain" for 30 years - not sure if that qualifies. :notsure:

I do have a beard but not like William Lee Golden...

Mountain is relative to where you are, my driveway at 1600 feet would be laughable to the folks out west.

Rusty.. this is my friend Melvin from back in WV. He lived on one mountain and I lived on another. We both are engineers only he does beautiful finish carpentry on mansions and I took the pure engineer route. When he comes to visit me in SC I have no idea what he will have in his cooler. Last trip had canned Bear meat, some frozen deer burger, a small jar of homemade molasses and a jar of pickles. Meet Melvin.

@Gen1TacoLady thanks for posting! My tables are coming along.
Here is how this whole project is working out:
I build it as square and pure as I can. I then sand to make it un-square but it looks square. Here is a finished lap joint:
    20240219_202924.jpg
Was it square? Yes. Is it square now? No. Does it look square? Yes. Lol man. 4" Maple. I still have a lot of sanding to do and should stain by Friday.

Someone gifted me a "solid oak" desk. When I got into it, it was oak veneer on plywood. The top is the plywood cut up, stacked together and turned vertical to see the patterns. It gives a nice striped look. :)
