idk lol my buddy has a turbo tercel and when it was straight piped hooooly fuck was it loud until he put exhaust on it.

It's not though. The engine doesn't perform at all like a Z, the chassis is different, the suspension is different, the shift tables and throttle tables are different.... The Supra will drive circles around a Z4

Gotta learn to drive mate. 2nd gen Frontier could teach the ranger a thing or two about speed. 3rd gen Frontier drives like a truck, not like a Camry with a bed. The low gearing is good.

ya sorry no... ive driven all the mid size trucks and if the ranger didnt have a bad trans stock for stock it pulls and pulls well the frontier is rather slow it fells like a 2nd gen tacoma tbh where it has good low end but thats about it while the ranger had good low and high end but thats all if its trans doesnt leave the chat lol

im sure he will find a way to annoy them lol

 

You should go drive the 24 taco and report back

 

im sure it will be better then the last gen. but im wondering how the new ranger with the newer platform will do and also the new chevys since they got a pretty good bump in power with the new motors but sadly kept the old trash trans it had before. but at the same time i dont care to drive any since well i dont want any of them lol

tbh idk lol i liked the ranger over the tacoma and tbh that still holds true... it was a much nicer truck with sadly a bad trans... if it wasnt for that massive thing! id still have it....

 

What's the issue with the transmission?

 

on the ranger? mine would slip out of gear or slam into gear. it also left me stranded a few times where i would put it in drive and id get nothing it would just spin... it didnt matter if i let it warm up or any of the "10r80 tips" to keep it working towards the end mine was just failing at 22k miles...

they started to be more common by the time i traded mine in and left the forum not a single one had made it over 100k on the forum without a trans being rebuilt or replaced and ford wasnt covering it... only one person at 40k miles got a partial cover and even then it was a lot of money and it took him 4 months to get his truck back...

the 19-20 modles seemed to be better with less common issues.. but the 21-23s were having problems before hitting 30k miles and ford was doing anything and everything to say nope there is no issue with the trans.. meanwhile there is a class action lawsuit against it now...

 

Interesting. Can't say I've had any issues with mine for nearly 200k save for the occasional hard shift between D/N/R, but that's only one data point. Probably about 60-70% of our light truck fleet at work has them, and I know of one Super Duty for certain that had transmission-specific issues. Haven't heard much of the rest, but I also don't have the best tab on the operations side.
