Wait, so driving, dome is off, how are the power windows working then?

It was powered from the dome light circuit, not the actual dome light. If the dome light could be turned on the windows had power.

The circuit itself had a timer, so for ten minutes after ignition off or last door opened it was active.

Ahhhh, so the + of dome but chassis ground. Fires relay for window motor power. Hence on for a short duration after ignition but guaranteed to time out at some point? Then once a door opens, back on?

This seems doable with a plug and play kit in the driver kick panel and a tie to the A pillar T and an add-a-fuse. Might be a fun project someday.

Yeah that's exactly how it worked! I've been missing it ever since I sold that truck. I don't understand why the windows need to stop working as soon as a door opens.

It would be awesome if you were able to help! Do you think it would be as simple as providing a 12v signal to whichever wire would control them?

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Curious how Toyota wires rear window on 4Runner as it works without key in ignition, wonder if any of that may help your pursuit.. just a thought

Pretty sure the timer is in the cpu and is on the ground side. This is why you can still turn on the inside lights at any time whether the doors are open or closed. The dome switch just controls whether the path to ground goes straight to the chassis or through the timer(cpu). It's likely you need a completed ground path rather than 12v. Also, I think the window timer is separate from the dome timer since they have different delay periods.

So you have to drive with the doors unlocked to use the windows?

I assumed the dome times out at some point? But maybe that’s done with the ground floating even when switched on? Rather than disconnecting power.

if it’s all ECU controlled grounds then there probably isn’t a good reason to avoid an aftermarket timer to latch window power for XX minutes after they time out on their own.

Yeah. You get 20min with the dome lights, I think. Still 20min after turning off would be nice?

Just pointing out tying it to door lock status isn’t a great idea.
I think though I could be wrong that installing a switch to connect all the window relay coils to ground wouldn’t create a parasitic drain since current would only flow when a window switch was activated.

I have no idea and would let that up to the folks who know more about the stuff. I'm just a guy wishing for a nice-to-have thing.

What about method of constant power like people that have wired dash cam to stay on when truck is parked? Applicable?

A lot of people missed my post #2. The windows already have constant power. The windows stop working when the LIN tells them to stop working. Please read post # 2 and get the schematic in Post #18.
@daveeasa needs to read these posts as well.
