ya its odd since the 10r80 is in the full size trucks and they have been fine but when they put them in the rangers they did something to them and now they just fail often.. which ive seen videos on the trans and it seems to be the rangers have one less oil port or something? unlike the bigger trucks and it overheats and then starts shitting the bed according to the video i watched.

it honestly sucks since i really did like that truck it towed amazingly and was super comfy (only odd thing is it never felt planted on the road? idk if that makes sense lol) but leave me stranded enough times where i have to ride my bike in cold weather and rain... and ill never buy it again lol

This is the part I don't get. You say you'd rather have the ranger, yet the second biggest component of it totally conked out at 22k.

I get that theyre fun to drive, and on paper the latest generation is a veritable beast but .... Kinda useless without a transmission.

i may say that yes but dont mean i will lol hell i dont want the modern tacoma. me personally its an ugly truck it can have all the power and options i want in a truck but ive learned my lesson and ill keep my little 2nd gen.

thats the big thing on paper and in real time use the ranger is just amazing! it drives great its fun to rip on and you can use it as a truck and it does one hell of a job! anytime i used my old truck (before it got built up) it would do alright it never did one thing fantastic besides you know no issues with heavy abuse lol.
the tacoma ive always saw as a good swiss army knife it does a lot of things alright but nothing great. while the ranger felt a bit over its midsize class on how it would do things with towing and well being a truck. but again is all pointless if the damn thing doesnt shift... hopefully they fix it in the next years and hopefully the lawsuit goes through and they will call in all the older trucks and fix what needs fixed on them... if not well oh well i no longer own one and i wont go back to one...

ive learned my lesson with 40k price tag vehicles and im done with it...

Vehicle leaves me stranded due to a catastrophic failure, it’s going away.. unless it was something that was my fault.

I'd really like an 83-86 F250 or 350 extended cab, 4speed, 4x4. Really want a 6.9 IDI, but wouldn't turn down a 300 I6. Doesn't make the most power especially by modern standards, but everything is completely mechanical and under stressed and I can do almost any repair myself. Not overly enthusiastic about the TTB front axle on the 250, but it's something I can live with.

    Also, flatbed is almost required

Once again, it'll be the best vehicle on the market and the Tacoma just doesn't cut it or left him stranded somehow. "So long, TW, I'm off to Fordland again!"

pretttty sure i said i wasnt going to buy another truck? id like to keep this little red one.. the only truck id prob try and find one is a 1st gen tundra dont ask me why but ive always liked those trucks and have wanted one but id add it and not replace the tacoma this time lol
one i haaaaate dodge but are they actually bringing those back? tbh its a smart idea to get back into the midsize market

That would have been the 7.3 IDI, essentially a bored out 6.9 with electric fuel pump and a couple other changes. They were phased out in 94 with the introduction of the 7.3 Powerstroke. Yeah, they aren't fast stock, but I'll take slow and brutally simple any day. Turbo kits exist if that needs to change.
