Phillips for me too. I have a friend that worked for Phillips Connect and he hooked me up for under the counter lighting. The cabinets are gone but the lighting was migrated to over the sink and in the garage. When people tell me LED lighting does not make a difference, I tell them Who do you think lit up the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Local county taxes must be a bitz.

When I added up the state taxes and program fees it was $1.18 a gallon. 2 cents a gallon for underground storage, come on that is just petty.

Good morning. Up early to start the day and get back home early. Simple bed linin wash day.

    Good morning all!
Our gas is between $2.99 high and $2.59 Sam’s Club lowest. Not bad!
Another great winter’s day here! College kids will be catching up on their suntans I suspect.

@Oldie2007 I take it your wife wants you to check it out, the patches and pain stuff are to help you breathe. They don't bind or wrap you because they don't want you getting pneumonia.

Dave I don't think I ever enjoyed the cold I just put up with it. The movie Fargo is kinda a joke in it's own. It was filmed in Brainard, MN. The dialogue is a German/Russian sort of community thing. From places like Strasberg, Karlsrue areas like Laurence Welk was from.

Gas prices vary all over. Taxes, shipping and now blends for winter gas vs summer and some of it is I believe a control thing to change our driving habits. Electric cars for instance are a hidden travel restriction due to range and time for recharge.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/snowbirds. All I can say about this winter is that I'm glad February is the shortest month.

The gas tax posts got me curious so I looked up the numbers for PA. The feds tax each gallon 18.4 cents, a number that hasn't changed since 1993 according to Wikipedia! It's a fixed number, not indexed to inflation or anything. The state of PA charges 57.6 cents per gallon, which is pretty high in comparison with some other states. That's a reduction of 3.5 cents per gallon compared to 2023. Add those up and I'm paying 76 cents per gallon in taxes. Gas is anywhere from $3.09 to $3.49 for regular around here so roughly 23% goes to pay taxes. For 93 octane the amount that goes to taxes is more like 18%, so buy high test if you want to reduce your tax rate! o_O:rolleyes:

These are gasoline numbers -- diesel numbers are a bit higher in dollar terms, but the percentage is about the same.

Here in New Hamster we're the 11th least taxed on gasoline in the nation at $0.2383 per gallon. When we move to Maryland this year that will bump to $0.3730 per gallon; not too bad I guess.

Well, at least I'm the only one in the waiting room.

Gas up, gas down.... I get an email from Gas Buddy every night that says so. Mostly because I have a couple saved Valero or Shell stations in all the surrounding towns. The difference can often be 30 cents a gallon. So if I have errands, I can see if it's worth the trip. Gas Buddy pretty handy for that, I seldom use their discounts. It's a free app tho, worth every penny of that!

I pretty much hit Sam's up for all my local gas. Every now and then we have a station aways from me that goes 2 cents below them . But I'm not driving a extra 10 miles to save 20 cents because I normally fill at half a tank. I look at if I'm going to drive then I pay the price. My only gripe is finding non oxygenated gas for my small engines. That ethenol shit isn't good for the carbs.

My daughter wants me to go to Menards today, to it see if they would cut carpet runner into 32" pcs 24 of them for the hotel she works at. The guy looked at me like I asked him to wipe my ass. I don't want to cut it up myself. They have a straight edge guide.

Gas price here today is $1.695 a liter or $6.44 a us gallon.
Breakdown per liter is 83.3 cents for crude, 27.9 for refining, 11.4 for market operating margin and 50.8 cents for taxes. Cheap now, it was up over $2 a liter last summer.

Canada used to drive me nuts first they had the imperial gallon, then they changed to selling by the liter. The math challenged would always say but you get more for your money.

    Of course.
However competition (if any nearby) may drop its price first and entice the station to adjust pricing to sell what is in the tanks.
There is very little profit on a gallon of gas... the government makes the most money on each gallon.. and they do nothing to produce the product. In fact, they make getting oil as difficult as possible for the oil companies!
California is an oil producer with refineries, but unlike Texas this state has made energy an enemy and the citizens are who ultimately are punished.

Here in California gas is about the most expensive in the US. Taxes and California fees are $1.18 a gallon. Cheapest I can find it in Northern California where I live is $4.19/gallon. But average at other stations like Chevron and Shell is around $4.65/gallon. When I fill my truck and boat (boat has a 40 gal tank) it’s easily $160+.
When I was in high school I worked part time in a full service gas station (we also repaired cars) and gas was around .26 cents per gallon and the owner gave me a 2 cent a gallon discount. For less than $5 I could put some gas in my car, take a girl on a date to the drive in, buy popcorn and soda and have money left over. Them were the days.

This is about as close as you want to go down this rabbit hole. Some of the mods have no sense of humor. I've gotten the 30 day ban.

I wasn't trying to be funny, just teaching a fact to those in states who think it will never happen to them! I lived in California since I was born, over 66 years ago... It used to be really nice here economically and everyone who could, moved here. Sadly, they brought their bad east coast voting habits with them and now, we are in a disaster. It is so sad. I am too old to move, my 6 grandkids are all here, as none of us can afford to just walk away from jobs, homes, etc. If you like the way a new place is, don't change it to become the place you left!
