@m3bassman how the hell did Vancouver lose 10-7 to the Wild last game, that's crazy. I guess it happens to the best of them once in awhile. Kings did get blanked by Buffalo 7-0 last week which I suppose is even worse, at least the Canucks scored several goals lol.

3 hat tricks in one game is pretty wild also

I checked in one the second and it was 5-2, Canucks in the lead.... checked back in the third it was 7-8 with the wild up. I was confused. Sounds like they tapped in an empty netter and then the Canucks started to leave the ice with 2 seconds left and they popped in one last one. It's been a rough stretch, not sure where the breakdown was, but Desmith needs to do better come the playoffs, we can't only have Demko back there to ensure a win.

@Kwikvette have you seen any plans for a slam latch?

I'm building a swingout and hate all the builder latch options, but am not yet ready to design my own latch block.

I don't particularly fancy any designs using the Destaco latches but actually really like the stability afforded by the 4xInnovations one. I haven't seen any slam style latches that would hold up long term on a swing out, I've seen some bumper that use them but not what I would consider strong designs.

I haven't but side with Zane on that one

The 4X innovations looks pretty nice and I was just talking to @FLBAdrian about using one for his future swingout

One I had on my 4Runner was a similar style as the 4X

fully aware of both of those options.

I'm looking to have easy 1 handed operation, so a locking over center latch and a lighter duty slam latch operated by the same handle is what my ideal solution is I think

the 4x innovations design is really close to what I want, just without the auxiliary pin latch.

Maybe 2 regular slam latches similar to how a car hood on a modern euro car works with an alignment dowel and catch on another plane?

looking at GX or FJ "barn doors" they only have a slam latch...

alignment wwears out, but maybe a tightly shimmed slam latch is fine

Can always try I guess, this is one of those ideas I'd file firmly in the "perfection is the enemy of progress" category. But I don't use my truck as a truck either so I'm not often saddled with groceries or a toddler or something else that I cannot put down to open a tailgate. Every slam latch swingout I've seen does one or more of these three things; doesn't latch on the first/second try, doesn't release without removal of pressure usually vertically, or releases at random while underway. If you think you can build a better one the market is absolutely ready for one, the only reason none of the bumpers available for sale use them is because they don't work as advertised but I'm sure many would like them. Aluminess uses them, and they have all the aforementioned problems.
