One of my biggest gripes with the OR trim is power seats not being standard or at least a stand alone option.

I can get a new 2024 Tundra Limited crew max for 60K, probably less.

 

The coming Land Cruiser I like is $70,000.

 

My local dealer has a ‘24 2WD SR5. No arguing that it’s a nice little truck, but I rented a Nissan Versa once that had more standard features, less blank buttons, and higher grade seat cloth. The MSRP + sales tax + dealer fee would clear $48k. Well, technically, the dealer has it market-adjusted to $56k.

Once you get hands-on with a Gen4, you quickly realize of course the truck is great, but the problem isn’t solely a crazy MSRP. It’s also asking current owners to pay more, and just accept the aggressive de-contenting.

 

My problem is that I got 11.8% knocked off MSRP for my current truck. I want more than that for a discount on these new breed trucks.

 

What did they have added on to that thing. A base 2WD SR5 is like 38-39k.

$37200, plus 1495 destination. $3740 for the SR5 upgrade, 70 bucks for cleats. The port added Toyoguard, sidesteps, exhaust tip, & phone charge cables onto the sticker. That gets you to mid 40’s before tax, dealer fee. Pretty hefty premium for a basic RWD small truck.

The dealer’s attempt to add any markup is just bonkers. I told the salesman if someone actually pays $56k, then please give them my phone number and I’ll offer to sell them a broken Honda push mower for $5000

I'm sorry but for 55-60k, I'm getting the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor. It starts at 53K and not sure about how much standard features it got. But having had an F150 Raptor, the raptor will do laps around any Tacos. The engine alone is more powerful than Tundras TT V6. Its just bang for your buck. I got my 17 TRD Pro manual cement grey, brand new, for 40k even, that was almost 7 years ago. It even had a technology package. What's the tech in these trucks now to justify $15k increase? The sub 300hp turbo 4 banger? Are you kidding me

 

Starts at 57. But why are we still using marked up trucks with every option and a bunch of junk added as our value comparison? You can get a well equipped off road for mid 40's.

 

Good luck finding one. People who ordered early still haven’t received their raptor rangers yet.
