    This is a known issue.

The fix that I have found to work 90% of the time is to make a call. Just have to initiate the phone call, then you can hang up. Fixes the skipping issue 90% of the time.

I'll need to test this out with Spotify and USB Donger utilizing Bluetooth.

My iPhone plug-in was ruined when I dropped it at the beach so I use a wireless Apple charger at home.

This means, I'll use the OEM charger in the center console from time to time...it has a tendency to get hot so I limit it to 30 minutes.

Just drove 14 miles...using AppleCar Play, Dongar, Spotify, and Google Maps...

No music skipping...and I even received a text notification while driving...the on screen display allows you to voice text.

The only thing that was wonky was my Google Maps; unless you type in an address, it has a hard time keeping up with current location. lol

I've had the issue of skipping audio through CarPlay since the first week I had my '23. I'll have to try some of these things. It's so infrequent that I know I won't be able to replicate it for the dealership, so I've just lived with it.

it's not predictable. either you have it or you don't, but i know of no way to induce it so it's near impossible to reproduce on demand. after having my truck for 2.5 years, with 2 different iphones and all the various ios versions in that time, it hasn't gone away.

the easiest way i know to get around it is a soft reboot of the head unit - hold down the volume button til the screen goes black and then it'll reset.

The soft reboot switch is a great tip. I had no idea about that one. My wife’s SantaFe has intermittent issues with CarPlay too, but it’s much much rarer. Her screen will lock up and go black. Usually it’s a similar deal though. Just have to turn the car off and on, and it works again. I wonder if it’s a CarPlay thing more than a head unit issue.

I have not had skipping issues but every now and then the Apple Car Play will not boot up. Frustrating to say the least. Glad to hear you can reboot the system by holding the volume knob. Will try that next time it happens.

i think that's the right question, until you consider that the one doesn't exclude the other. i mean it seems like only the Apple phone-using folks here complaining about it, but the device needing a reboot is the head unit. reboot the phone or phone-based app all day long, see what works for you.

some component of Car Play lives on the head unit, amiright?

The issue in discussion here is at startup of the truck.

Start truck, plug in iPhone, play music, it skips. If it doesn’t skip immediately, you’re fine for the trip.

    Nailed it
