I'm sure he did feel awful for years to come.... I'm thinking right now, what if I had a Corvette right now and went out one night and got in a wreck and nearly killed one of my buddies? What would life be like for me?

Travis probably my favorite athlete... I love everything he does (Nascar being the exception, haven't followed him at all....), from rallying, to FMX, even clips I've seen of him back when he actually raced bikes. From everything I've read/watched about, it seems that he's one of the most down to earth, honest, and easy to approach guys.... would love to meet him one day. Sure he's a celebrity (though only really within the motorsport community), but he doesn't seem act like one... no big movie star ego.

"It could have been a rapist, it could have been a killer". It could have also been James Stewart. Why the fuck are we playing a game of "could've been"?

You don't have to tell me why laws are in place. You act as if I condone rape or something ha, I was saying how if someone wants to rape another human a lot less effort could be used then playing pretend cop. I dont see why you keep trying to connect James Stewart to a rapist. Never once said to disregard any law, in fact..."I'm not saying he was right, whatever punishment he gets, he more than deserves." is exactly what I said.

And comparing this situation with rape, is just slightly over-the-top.

no problem man. a girl i worked with was pulled over by a suspicious car. and just kept driving, called the cops and said im not stopping untill another crusier gets here.

she got no charges for it. its smart and safe. people need to be safe. i never want to see someone get robed killed or raped from something like this.
i have to drive cop cars at work all the time i work at a Chrysler "stealership" and im always afraid to take one on the road thinking im going to get what bubba got. thats why im at 10 and 2 the whole frickin time. i never touch a damn thing.

Nobody compared it to rape. We said these laws are in place to protect people from real criminals like rapists. The whole point is if you let people run around pulling people over you will have no idea who is pulling you over when red and blue lights flash behind you. It could be bubba, it could be a cop, it could be a rapist. But you dont care cause its fun. Once you pull over and the rapist puts a gun in your face its too late

Exactly. All I really intended was to make a point to some on here that seem to downplay the severity of this.

i am %100 with you on this. ill sit here and argue about it all day if it needs to be done. but all you wise guys obviously know whats best. because no one makes mistakes and does jokes. YES it was wrong, but you guys are putting bubba and rape together which isnt right. it was a joke thats all it was. he wasnt hurting anyone or anything. IT WAS A FUCKING JOKE get over it.

and the thing about travis pastrana he talks alot about it on "199 lifes" travis has had a pretty crazy life. he used to have dreams of kids burning in his fire place and would scream in his sleep and stuff.

anyways back on track. if someone normal did this you guys wouldnt be bashing so hard. i gaurentee people do shit like this all the time. and just because hes rich and famous you guys feel the right to bash.

from what it looks like to me he did this to get the car out of his way.

James Stewart was arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer. The incident occurred on Florida's Highway 417 in Orlando, as Stewart was taking a friend to the airport to catch his flight. According to police reports, Stewart allegedly used his vehicle lights and red and blue lights to slow down a vehicle containing off duty police officers that had passed his vehicle. Stewart was in street clothes and never exited his vehicle during the incident. No confrontation or exchange of words between the officers and Stewart occurred. Stewart was not charged with any dangerous driving or any other negative action. The police report is clear that once Stewart slowed the police officers' vehicle that he then drove towards the airport; several miles later, Stewart and his friend were pulled over at the airport where they fully cooperated with police.
Stewart is extremely sorry that the incident occurred and that any negative inferences may arise that reflect poorly on his fans, his team, or his sponsors. Stewart will continue working with authorities to resolve the incident quickly.
In James' words: "Thanks to all that are standing by me. I hope to resolve this incident quickly and show people that I am someone that upholds the law and someone they can respect as a competitor and as a person."
Stewart is free to race and is preparing for this weekend's Supercross race in Arlington, Texas. He and his team will continue competing in the remainder of the Supercross series.
