Picked up my first Suppressor over the weekend! Will be going on this guy along with some others (300blk, 9mm). Went with a SilencerCo ASR Single Port brake and Omega 36M. my wait starts when they get the 36M in stock.. expected a month out.. then 4-6 after submission.

Be careful with the Sig 556 platform when suppressing. I have a 556R, and when trying to suppress it on the regular setting, the bolt would come back hard enough where the charging handle actually dented the channel it goes through in the upper receiver. It's possible that a larger volume can like the Omega 36M might not have that issue, but you may want to look at modifying the gas valve with another smaller gas port for a suppressor setting. Since yours is a 556P, it may or may not have that same issue. I just got a regular 556 valve and put it in to replace the 556R valve, but have been putting it off to tune it:notsure:

Good info right here.. thank you. I have been researching and watching vids of old/OG P556's suppressed. Grain wasnt provided in some scenarios as well as they were using older Cans. Even then though, every scenario it would cycle no problem. I believe between the caliber and grain used and more modern suppressors I wont have any issues... fingers crossed anyways. I have heard and read over the years that the R had issues.. I'm a big Sig nerd in general, but really nerd out on the old 55x series. Also have some West German made P226s and P228s. Appreciate the info regardless and will be saving this for future reference just in case.

If you're looking for a gas valve, JIC, check out Gatewood supply co, it's where I got mine, they might have them turn up every once in a while.

I've browsed them in the past.. and have used my SigArms556 forum for other small parts like an extra charging handle to play with and make my own modified version. Just signed into Sigarms556 again for the first time in awhile and found a recent thread actually.. regarding the 556 suppressed and someone mentioning the same thing about modifying the gas valve, and then a guy prototyping some 6 position valve. I guess I'm just gonna find out how it runs when I get the can.

@strider98 so after some more digging on sigarms, I found some useful info on modifying the gas valve. Pulled mine to take a look.. definitely something I can do at work if it's what I'm thinking.

I think one of the things to do is to grind a spot for the detente on the left wing to match the right (left and right as in the picture).

Sadly, no one who has been watching the 2A cases work their way through the ciurt system is surprised.

And now back to our regularly scheduled gun talk....
