I don't think I'd mark it as "picked up", if it were not picked up?
But then again, I don't do DoorDash or Uber Eats.

The only deliveries I'm doing are at least $30 per trip. And I want to average $10 per hour doing it. So, $30 just to do it. Plus $10 per hour doing it.
I learned a long time ago. Just because I have a truck and a trailer, doesn't mean I'm your "Free Mover".
I set a price, And that's my price.

Most people only ask me "Once". Evidently, I'm too expensive, or they're too cheap.
I didn't buy my truck or trailer to be in the business of hauling other peoples stuff.

I had already picked up the food and had gone out to the truck when I realized it was going to Philly. That was the second time that happened in 2023; I now pay much closer attention to where the order is going. Gwyn paid me $75 to pick up the flooring, and she is also a really close friend; I only help friends and family move.

    Oh, Ok. I understand now.

Depending on the circumstances, I may or may not charge friends or family.

Gwyn insisted on paying me that much; I seem to remember that she bought me a $500 Amazon gift card one year...

    Sounds like a good friend.

I've had people try to pay me more.
But I don't typically take more than I said I wanted.
By sticking to a set price, it keeps me from feeling bad, and felling like I need to "price it cheaper" next time.

    NEVER owe anyone. EVER.
Owing someone "next time around", has always cost me money.

Or they think most people drive something that gets 40mpg perhaps

Too bad there's not some kind of "surge" boosting like Uber has for this situation. It's one thing ordering from a one location restaurant but common places is another.

I learned that lesson after a while as well. Though my friend several years ago was getting a free sectional from another mutual friend and asked me for help. Though she led off with "it's $30 just to rent a truck, can I rent you and your truck for $40 to help me?". She also did everything she could like having it outside when I arrived, her and her fiance helping me load it in, etc. She is a cutie as well haha..

I really do not want to pick up and/or deliver orders in Doylestown Borough anymore, and it has absolutely nothing to do with DoorDash!

It has to do with an overabundance of entitled pricks who think the world revolves around them, and who come out in droves on Saturday night.

I almost hit two women in a crosswalk at the intersection of State Street and Hamilton Street tonight (well, last night since it's now after midnight); I admit this. However, it was a very busy intersection and the women were wearing dark clothes and happened to just outside my field of vision. At certain angles, my truck's left A-pillar obscures my view, basically becoming a blind spot.

There was a blue T4R in front of me that made a right turn. I don't know for sure how I missed these two, and @Stitchgirl90 missed them too. The were already in the center of the crosswalk, when I started to proceed, and I didn't see them.

I had the window down, and I saw movement out of the corner of my left eye. The next thing I knew, something hit the side of my truck; I'm guessing the one woman punched the side of my truck in a fit of rage.

There were two women, but only one said anything; she screamed at me "What the fuck is wrong with you?!?!" I was just frozen in shock, and I kept looking at her, then Amanda, then back at her, and then back at Amanda. I did not say one word to this woman.

She then said "Are you fucking drunk?" I still didn't say a word, as I was shocked and a bit freaked out. The other woman walked away, going behind my truck and disappearing. I didn't know what she was going to do next, so I just drove off, and everyone I've told has said I did the right thing.

I am quite embarrassed that I did not see these women, and I've never in nearly 13 of driving almost hit somebody in a crosswalk. What she mistook for me being in a drunken stupor was me being unsure of what to do and too shocked to say anything.

In the unlikely event that she and/or her friend read this, I would like to apologize. This was totally my fault.

However, nothing gives you the right to hit my vehicle; I don't know exactly what they did, but one of them hit my truck with something, and it was enough to trigger my dashcam's impact sensor. I can sort of understand the swearing, but it was still uncalled for. If this had been a couple of guys, I probably would have exchanged words.

I wish I could say that this was an isolated incident, but while I don't run into issues like this, I hear stories. These are the type of people who frequent Doylestown on weekends, and I've about had it.

And for once, I would like to share a story of something positive that happened when I went to pick up an order. There's this Italian place less than two miles from my house, and I ended up with two orders from this place the other day that were going to two different customers.

I walked in, said that I was picking up DoorDash orders for so-and-so, and showed the woman my phone. She said that I was one of the most polite Dashers she'd dealt with because, among other things, I held my phone at a tolerable distance and didn't shove it in her face.

We ended up BSing about how much we hated the policies and tactics of DoorDash, and it made me feel a hell of a lot better!

Here's one I keep forgetting to mention that has nothing to do with driving...

Maybe a week ago, I found a free refrigerator on Facebook marketplace that had a bad compressor. It wasn't a normal-sized residential fridge, but it was way bigger than one of those mini-bar fridges. The description said that the compressor was "gone"; I asked the guy getting rid of it if this meant that the compressor was actually gone or just not functioning. He told me that it was just not working; I made the mistake of explaining why I was so interested in the compressor (scrap, obviously).

He said "twenty bucks and it's yours", to which I responded "the ad says it's free". This asshole changes the description from "FREE" to "$20". I accused him of pulling a bait and switch and said that I'd probably be getting $20 at most for the whole thing. He insisted he could sell it for parts, and he also seemed to think that it could be repaired.

Newer refrigerators are sealed systems with no charging ports; I'm sure that somebody with brazing skills and a bit of technological know-how could get a newer fridge working, but generally once the compressor is gone, the fridge is not repairable. The oldest refrigerator I've ever stripped was actually a reach-in freezer, an Amana from the about 1989-1993 if I had to guess; I got the freezer from a Ukrainian guy who clearing out his house to prep it for sale, and he said that the fridge had come with the house and had been working when he put it in the garage. Obviously, it had R-12, there was no Freon in it when I got it, so I'm sure thinking that something got damaged or rotted out when the guy put it in the garage. This freezer that was more than 30 years old was a sealed system with no charging ports. I once dismantled a refrigerator from the 1930s or 1940s that DID have service ports for adding Freon, but I have never gotten my hands on a fridge from the 1950s-early 1980s...

The fridge that the guy suddenly decided was worth $20, was most certainly new enough to have R134a. I made a snarky remark to him, left him a 1-star review for his bait-and-switch tactics, and blocked him to make sure none of his listings appear in my feed.

Yeah. It will be there a week from now.
He's lucky he doesn't have to pay someone to take it off.
I don't waste my time on stuff less than $50. It's not worth my time or trouble.
I throw it away myself before I deal with selling it on a "market place".

I got these two nonfunctional wine chillers for free on Facebook Marketplace today. The bigger one had a compressor and functioned similar to a refrigerator, but the smaller one had an electric fan and did not use refrigerant..

Not including the junk wire, both wine coolers yielded an impressive amount of valuable scrap...

I do not understand why that Bethlehem cop got his panties in a bunch when I left my truck curbside for a few minutes last December; I seriously do this all the time in Central Bucks (New Britain, at 5:57pm this evening, in this case), and as you can see other people do as well...

Pretty much the same, I sold a portable monitor for $50 that was $110 new and 2 weeks usage though when I didn't know anyone who wanted it free. Probably wouldn't have bothered but was defraying my friend's final expenses.

One thing I've noticed a lot of over the years is people with Philly addresses ordering from the Lansdale/Montgomeryville/North Wales (Montgomery County); I got this Uber Eats order on Sunday, February 18th and immediately declined it. I have a lot of theories about why so many people in Philly order form the suburbs, but I think most of the time it's stoners who are too high to realize that they're ordering from a store 10+ miles away in the suburbs. Even if this order paid $15-$20, I would not have taken it because I don't like driving into Philly! Technically it's Elkins Park, but it's a Philly address, and the closer you get to Philly the worse the traffic gets! The closer to the city you get, the more sketchy it becomes. I will not do DoorDash or Uber Eats past Willow Grove, because once you get past the on-ramp for the turnpike, you get inundated with orders going into Philly...
