My wife talked me into keeping the truck. Once it's done paid off in the next year or two i'll add the FJ to the fleet. In the mean time i've ordered some goodies for it. Got a new roof rack coming and will be cleaning up the undercarriage. Are people just using POR15 for the coating? I've never done it before so just curious what people use.

Mark Miller has the 4th Gen shown on their website. Anyone rush out to see if they actually have one on sight?

I agree they look awesome but at the price you can get a good used full size truck. And they're 4cyl hybrids now which doesn't appeal much to me. my 4.0 is still running strong at almost 200k miles.

    Agreed.

Time will tell, but it appears most manufacturers are going this route.

Any one have any frame shops they recommend? Got impacted on drivers side rear bedside panel causing my hitch/frame to bend towards the passenger side about 4-6inches. My bed is deformed on the rearward 4 torx bolts holding the bed in place, where there are a couple small cracks near the bolts. I’m mentally prepared for a total loss but would prefer to keep the old gal on the road. Here’s a couple pics for reference. 37919283-31D2-4B4D-9107-59950975065B.jpg 07474235-0185-4CF4-BC19-30175F9F992A.jpg 281C2759-B570-4241-A242-C6D4D5317419.jpg

its 2012 TRD off-road manual trans 4x4 so it’s a unicorn and can’t be replicated. So I’m pretty invested in making her road worthy if financially feasible. Considering a flat bed if the frame can be repaired adequately.

I've repaired two 2012 TRDs with similar damage... both totaled and sold to me by Copart. Simple fixes and common to Tacos.

    Polebarn 6_LI.jpg 20210606_143443.jpg

Both of these trucks cost less than $500 to fix and they have the original beds.

That’s inspiring, where’d you get the work performed or did ya do it all yourself?

Did everything myself in my driveway with common hand tools. In my opinion, insurance companies are in cahoots with car companies to total everything they can so people have to buy cars... and it's good for the insurance company too because they can hike their rates if they total everything.

Did you hear about companies hiking rates in California by 30%?

Utah used to have "no fault" insurance and it was a LOT cheaper.

Howdy folks... dirty desert dweller here, going on vacation to Moab from Phoenix in a few weeks.

I've got 2 full days and 2 travel days, was looking at Onion Creek, Fins n Things, and Shaefer Canyon road as the big 3 I wanna hit. Any locals with alternates or suggestions for mid March? Tourist traps to avoid? Food places not to miss?

For the sake of simplicity let's just say my 5th gen 4Runner is roughly-stock... has TRD PRO shocks and .5" / 1" front / rear lift, armor, sliders, and some stock size 32" (265/70R17) AT tires.

Ain't my first rodeo, but also not stupid brave. :D

food places: spitfire BBQ, milts (burgers and shakes), love muffin (breakfast and burritos), dough bird (donuts and chicken sandwiches), hub and spoke (sit down american food). at least, these are my favorite places to eat.

as for places to offroad, fins n things is doable for your 4runner. i've seen stock tacomas go on it no problem. and i've done hells on my stock tacoma trd OR. but other than that, i wouldn't know as much. more on the mountain biking side of things. :D

have fun though! and be safe!

Moab is the trap hahah :spending:. As a local we always avoid the town as much as possible and be lost in radiation rock country . We go to town to stock up food gas and shower which we usually end up at the local swim hole. That’s a cool spot in town, we would jump off the top of the irrigation wheel into the pool . Super hair ball ,the creak is killer place to cool off and explore . Indian Ladder close to town. Gemini bridge is cool we used to be able to drive to it and drive over it . Just point and go you’ll have fun.
