Same here! My ‘85 is what started it all for me! Got it when I was 16 and still have it 25 years later! I would love to see a removable hardtop again on the 4Runner!

Bought mine in 1991 used with 70K on the clock for $6000. Was pretty much bone stock, didn’t even have a rear seat, which was a way to get around the chicken tax at the time. Added a Downey 3” lift, header, and HD clutch. Have been a Toyota fanboy ever since. Only pictures I have of it.

I got mine at auction for $1250 with 180k on it. Completely stock at the time, I proceeded to beat and destroy the thing and it never let me down. Doing a well deserved restoration on it now.

Heritage Blue for me. Diggin’ the square headlights, reminiscent of a 62.

Yeh, I like the square headlights better than the round.

Nice! My the engine went at 125K, had no clue how the previous owner took care of it, apparently not well. I tossed in a junkyard engine for $900…sold it at 225K to buy a ‘92 RC. Needed a pickup bed more than a SUV. Have hauled dirt and firewood in the 4R…not fun. Guy I sold it to turned it into a rock crawler. Assuming it has been destroyed and left for dead many years ago.

Same. Priced one out online at just over $68K (wife insists on HUD). Now to find a dealer that isn't going to mark these up, that will be the hard part.

Yeah weird for me, since I tend to gravitate towards round, but the square works better in this case. Also like the the square on the ‘83 trucks.

Think they are going to be unatainium for awhile until the hype wears off. At least for mortals…

    So true unfortunately.

Interestingly enough, the GX550 is only a few thousand more for the non-plus overtrail. Pretty similar. I just like the styling of the LC better (and the heritage blue with java interior).

And get the bigger engine in the GX. Could always buy the Lexus and toss on the LC front clip. @stevesnj was saying people might swap that engine into the LC, think it is easier to swap out sheet metal/plastic. :)

But yeah the blue with the Java interior is a nice combo, has a throwback vibe to it.

Wow this would almost be a new 80 series...almost...lol. Toyota kept the 'golden wheelbase' width the same.

That would be a fun project! I think I would rather do the motor to keep the color combo, haha. I honestly don't get the hate on the 4cyl turbo hybrid...Toyota has been doing the hybrid thing for years, so I'm not too concerned with reliability (plus the battery comes with a 10-year warranty or something). I’m looking at this as my daily with mild off-roading in mind, so the 4 banger should be more than enough power (and better mileage). That 6 in the GX sounds like a ton of fun though. Decisions…

I had a '91 80 series when I lived in Japan...loved that truck. Super stoked this is basically the same size.

Since the hybrid comes standard in the LC. Think 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque is more than enough…good lord!

I had an 89 Toyota pickup and 98 Tacoma both 4wd and when I first wheeled my 80 series I couldn't believe the difference in capability. It was astonishing.

Wonder what difference there is room wise behind the grill for intercoolers and such.

    Styling, like them both.
