I am looking forward to seeing armor and 35's on this thing. It's all you'd need for this. Thats all my 80 needed. No regear, 2.5" lift. done!

Ha! Think it is a bit overkill, the non-hybrid is plenty for me. Though I have driven 60s, 62s, and 80s found those to be adequate.

yeh my I6 gets me up hills and rocks with throttle teasing but never ever hit the limiter. But those guys see its a 4cyl and their pride hits new heights.

Yeah that is weird. It is all about the specs, could care less about how many cylinders achieves it.

And quite odd guys are chest thumping over a V6, that used to be over V8s going to sixxers.

Well actually you're right it's all about the specs. But when Billy Bob tells his buddies it's a 4cyl they will shrink up like a frightened turtle so they's rather go to a domestic than admit cylinder defeat.

I put the 4cyl hate in the same category as folks thinking this isn't a "real Land Cruiser."

While I have no issue with power in my 3G V6, the GM and Ford T4s I have driven are impressive, definitely feels more like a truck engine. Can only imagine the hybrid with 465 tq on tap.

Yeah the whole male ego thing over the number of cylinders is bizarre to me, sounds like they need to work on their self esteem more than anything.

Only gripe is we aren’t getting the diesel hybrid. Could have had it all, gobs of power and great fuel efficiency. But I know the diesel dream is dead for America, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

I am always on the lookout for another 80, but I think I might want a 60/62 eventually. Just love the 60 series styling. Honestly I'd be happy with either, but I'd rather wheel an 80.

Well I lucked out. I bought mine in 2011 with armor, 3x locked, TJM front and rear full bull bars and lift installed, for $5,500. I don't think those prices exist for an 8 series anymore..lol

Always wanted a 60/62 on an 80 chassis with a diesel. TLC 4X4 did them with LS swaps, but I need it to keep it all Toyota for the geek in me.

Dream rig would be an 80 diesel Maltec. https://expeditionportal.com/featur...90-hdj80-land-cruiser-with-maltec-conversion/

No they don't. $5,500 is how much I paid for my '91 80 in 2009, but mine wasn't as nice or equipped as yours.

Same here. I wish Toyoa would make crate motors. Even the new LC hybrid would be a great swap. Plenty of room for batteries and literally double the power in my 80

I wish they made crate engines too, oh well. Don’t trust that reman I put in my 1st Gen Taco.

iirc Johnathan Ward was selling those 60/62/80 swaps for something like $150-200K. Makes the new LC seem like a bargain, plus will be more refined, have a bunch of tech, more than enough power, and comes with a warranty. Toyota really knocked it out of the park, touches on nostalgia plus with all the modern conveniences people demand.

Looks great except for the price. It’s tough to justify that much more than a similar sized 4Runner.

Couldn't agree more on your assessment of the new LC. Besides, no way I would ever be able to part with that kind of money for a classic Cruiser. Too poor, lol.
