    couple of updates:

the touch screen on the AT stopped working at some point over the winter.. Time to trade in on @w.adventures dream T7 :spy:  JK. Honda acknowledged the issue with the screen stopping working, and so they've extended the warranty for 10 years. I found a dealership that will work with me (if I like them TBD. But they are an hour away.) Had them order the new screen, and Ill be taking the bike in on March 1.

I probably have about 2k left on my rear Shinko 805. Im really trying to burn through that between March-May, so I can put on my new Motoz Tractionator Adventure rear. Supposedly can get 10-12k from it. I hate the front one that I have, but don't want to swap it. Its a Motoz Tractionator GPS. Its super loud - like hearing a jeep with worn MT on the highway.

Got a new phone, and the Apple Carplay in the AT wasn't linking to my Cardo. On Monday I had enough, and ordered a GMRS handheld setup. Then saw a video with the specific steps that I should be doing, and it connected. Still want to see how the GMRS setup works. I know the range is already better than the Cardo Freecom 4+, which is 0.75 miles. My thought process is put one Airpod in one ear, and then GMRS in the other. That way I can still have music and comms. Even though I don't talk to anyone during rides. Ill probably sell the Cardo eventually.

oh, and I just learned that Honda USA finally updated their website to include the newly redesigned 2024 AT. But I see that you cant get tricolor in the base model. And the Adventure Sports model is now aimed at only touring. They changed the wheel size from 21/19 tubeless to 19/18 tubeless.
The base model now has tubeless 21/19, and an adjustable wind screen. And a couple other things that weren't there before. Is it worth trying to upgrade?-prob not. Friend of mine is selling some tubeless wheels for $1800..

I hate that motorcycles are just as expensive to put new wheels and tires on as a car/truck. $1800 for two little wheels feels like absolute robbery when I put 5 SCS wheels on my Tundra for less than that.

Heated gear is def not cheap but it is worth it. You might be surprised at how functional it really is even in milder weather. I've even used it into June when traveling. I figure it's just as easy to pack my heated liner as it is to pack a sweatshirt and if it does get cold the heated liner is far more useful to me.

We need a good rain here to wash the salt off the roads before I even think about getting mine out, slightly warmer temps are teasing me and giving me the itch.

I like hiking too.. but went recently, and I think the smoking is catching up to me. Friends and I did 1.9 miles out and back, but 600ft elevation change, and it was brutal for me. I should have chosen an easier hike than that for middle of winter haha.

I much rather like bike or truck hiking. Camping - definitely yes.

From a friend, even. Absolutely insane to me. Though if Honda made a shaft drive Africa Twin I'd probably buy one tomorrow, and I would definitely swap for tubeless wheels if it didn't come with them.

I'm poking fun at your shorthand for "though" because "thou" is an actual word with completely different meaning. If you're going to use internet shorthand go full text mode and just type "tho" so you don't confuse us old guys that read it and think "WTF that makes no sense" and have to reread it. :p

I'll be polite and not ask what she weighs but, if she's not a super large gal, have you considered the Honda XR125? https://powersports.honda.com/motorcycle/dual-sport/xr150l

It's not as tall as a full on dirt bike, affordable at $3099 MSRP (+$300 destination charge), street legal, and won't be so powerful that she'll get into trouble as a newbie.
