I have some more pics of our guest. P51C Tuskegee Airmen tribute "By Request" - hails all the way from the Red Tail Squadron in Red Wing MN. Down here for some shows - Laredo and others. Might be here a couple weeks - might not. This plane tours 9 months of the year, so it DOES travel! Homesite: Home | CAF RISE ABOVE

P51C's replaced the Airmens aging and outgunned P-40's in 1944. The Tuskegee Airmen most famous for their B-17 escort service that helped end the war. I know I have read somewhere, that when escorted by the Red Tails, not one B-17 was lost. (EDIT _ the homesite has the correct number - lower than all comparable) It got to the point that German fighters just plain avoided them.

Unless someone is a contortionist, they're not getting behind the pilot! The C cockpit top slides back, and all behind it is built in place. The P51D model, has the more famous bubble top, and there are a few that have been modified for a passenger. What a ride that would be!!!

Great pics. We have a replica out by the base here. It was put up a couple of months ago and dedicated earlier this month.

 

The garage is mine again. Just back from dropping off a load of attic stuff at goodwill. Yesterday was the dump. Pretty cool operation here Hillsborough county. They have unloading docks, 8 or so maybe 30’ long open trailers set lengthwise. You backup and toss your stuff in containers by content. Electronics goes in 1, metal scrap in 2, glass and ceramic in 3, wood in 4, concrete and construction debris in 5 and cardboard and packing materials in 6. I have them memorized now because I hit 5 out of the 6 and had to ask 3 times where something belongs. Best part of the day yesterday was getting two compliments on the Tacoma. One from the guy at the dump whose job is to watch you and repeat “I’m not allowed to help you” as you drop a testicle on the ground while wrestling the stuff out of your truck and the second was the passenger in a big 4-door pickup who called over to me at a stop light and asked if that was the original paint on the truck. I said it was and he went on about how good it looked. I told him the truck gets a lot of love and attention, smiled and drove on when the light changed.
