I'm saying you're picking expensive trims with expensive options with even more crap added on to try to make a point that 4gs are expensive.

As I already said, if you want a cheap 4g buy the one that's in the 30s.

I agree with you except for the significant increase in power. 2023 V6 278hp 265 trq, 2024 4cyl 243hp 317 trq. Maybe a little improvement, but I didn't notice any huge improvement when I test drove a 2024 sport.

I'm even seeing $15K off Jeep Gladiators. You can get the top of the line Mojave for $50-55

2024 makes 278hp/317 TQ in almost every trim, not 243.
However, power at a given RPM makes a huge driveability difference. The gap in hp at 2000-3000rpm is 40-50hp in favor of the 4cyl.

For $6,570 the difference is a 14in display screen mid dash, Ventilation in
seats, Heated Steering, a portable speaker, a rear window that goes down/up
vs left/right, a towing package, Power tail gate, and Turb 4cyl vs 6 cyl

New squared off design lines inside and out make it no better or worse, just make it different.

Telling someone that has model x with y packages they should compare to model b with z packages makes no sense. Compare your apple varieties to apple varieties, not apples to oranges. I said it before, most people buy Tacos with manufacturers packages. There aren't many stripped down trucks. If you want a base TRD with no packages good luck. If you want leather seats, heated, and a moonroof that's the best comparable right now.

Don't the 4gs come with different suspension, frame, brakes, and adaptive cruise.

    Yup
Make a complete list if you want. Point is, compare the same pricing packages Toyota lists because your most likely paying for some.

I don't think you understand. The point is for 2023 the most expensive package was the TRD Pro, the build calculator is still active on the Toyota Website. Thats a TRD PRO trim, which is not even active yet for 2024s. The max price was 48k and there was no other packages, nada. You can add accessories, the most expensive being a 2 inch TRD lift, that would push this truck over to 52k. This is the most expensive orange, compared to this expensive apple with hulking 9K package, a $9k package! We can't even compare oranges to oranges, yet the apples already cost more. All the "crap" he is adding to the OR was already standard on a 42k truck on the 3rd gens! My brand new 2017 TRD PRO was 40k brand new manual, its 42k for an auto with MTS and CC. There is no tech to justify 8k increases in pricing, vs these 9k packages are not adding lift kits but crawl control, MTS and heated steering wheels, which should be standard on an Off Road labeled Tacoma.

Just picked up my '24 Taco today. I turned in my '19 Taco lease for this one. The 50K (4K market rate bump) sticker was a bit of a shock, but I've had a Taco the past 15 years, so sticking with it. TRD 4x4 package, bland silver color, but digging the redesign. Having much more adjustable seating is definitely a plus. I will miss my AC outlet in the bed, but the new driving features and CarPlay seem to make up for that. I literally drove home 30 miles on the highway with my knee on the wheel and it was really nice.

I have to admit, I'm not as thrilled as when I got my '19, but I'm at least "satisfied" after one night of driving. Will know more as I give it a run. I have a 17.5' boat that needs to be towed, so interested in how this holds up. I wanted to hold out for the hybrid since I'm churning out 60 miles a day commuting, but couldn't wait due to lease end. So far the mpg looks slightly better, but time will tell.

The Toyota app works so far, but the subscription crap has really soured my outlook on Toyota. I'm hoping somehow they bow to consumer outrage, but doubtful. I'm looking at upgrading with after market stereo stuff now, so we'll see how that goes.

Nothing bland about silver Tacos buddy! Congrats and please report back on towing as I tow a bunch with a Taco even though people here say not to lol. I'm dying for some real world feedback on that aspect.

If you tow alot you can pickup a 22’ Tundra SR5 Crewmax now with under 30k miles for under $40k and it will do everything better than the new $45k+ Tacoma.

Hell you can get a brand new tundra crewmax 4x for $50k flat out the door here in Texas. Some dealers here have 100s of them on the lot

Finally saw one at our local dealer!

They want 53k CAN (60ish with taxes) Cloth seats and manual seats:
    IMG_3890.jpg IMG_3889.jpg IMG_3894.jpg

Back seats look even more cramped than I imagined. The drivers seat is in line with the pillar so maybe half way back and there is barely any leg room in the back:

    IMG_3891.jpg IMG_3892.jpg

My seat goes a few inches past the pillar, that’s where I’m most comfortable.

Gas tank is visible from the side and hangs quite low. Rear suspension also hangs kind of low:

    IMG_3893.jpg

And why fender flares don’t go all
The way down, quite a bit of metal is exposed at the bottom. Interesting design decision.
    IMG_3895.jpg IMG_3896.jpg

    Holy wheelbase though, pretty noticeable.

I was checking out truck and some duder came out of the dealership and asked me I liked it. I thought it was a sales person. I told him “meh not really” cuz I thought it was gonna get interesting :) Turns out it was just a customer that was checking out trucks at the dealer. We talked for like half hour. He owns 4R and 3rd Gen OR, looking to buy a tundra. Said 4G is alright but his main gripe is the I4 turbo and cramped rear seats.

Anyway one funny thing he said: “truck already comes with a snow plow!” We laughed haha. That thing is really huge!

I could see how this truck appeals to a lot of folks that are looking for “comfort and luxury” in a pick up.

I'm still early on my first tank, but I was thrilled when I got to work this morning and my 30 mile ride in was at 25.6 MPG. I was over 80 a couple of times as well. Again, this is literally all highway except for a half mile at start and end in neighborhoods. On my 3G TRD 4x4 I averaged 19.5 - 20 on the same trip. Once the engine settles in a bit and I get a few tanks down, I'll do some different drive style trips in and report back.

Might be helpful to update your profile with new truck info. It still shows a '19 as your truck. Just a suggestion to eliminate confusion.

I’m waiting for MT 4Gs to show up. I have zero interest in test driving an AT.

I will definitely leave a non biased and level headed review once that happens.:)

Also wanted to add, I was hoping to do some casual Uber to offset some costs, but those back seats are mighty close. I am still going to do it, but I'm going to have to be up on the wheel a lot more to avoid getting bad reviews from lack of leg room. Not having dedicated USBs int he back will force me to use the front 12V and run wires back so that people in the back won't shear off a 12V to USB plug adapter if they climb in. I'll see if I can get some pics later to show it more accurately.

Additionally, it's noticibly a bit higher than my 3G to even get in. I'm 6 feet tall and can barely scoot my butt over the seat to avoid using the step. I could see the left edge of the driver seat getting worn our from all the enter/exits.

I miss my side view defrosters and my sliding back window. While I didn't use them often, they came in extremely handy when I did things like haul longer 2x4s or get the frost/dew off my mirrors when it rarely happened. Of course, the mirror defrost is a lazy ass feature, but when I bought the top package on my 3G, I feel like I got my money's worth. Having the TRD 4x4 package doesn't have the same bang for the buck on the 4G. And even as quick as I was to shell out 50K for this model, there is no way in hell I could justify that 8/9K add-on package!

25 hwy is decent if you were going 80 at times. Would be nice to see more though, I got almost same mileage (24.5) when my truck was stock and driving about 65 the whole time.

My truck is not stock now and I’m able to get 21.5 MPG in summer if not going faster than 60-65. Anything above 65 and good buy MPGs. I drive like a grandpa nowadays and mostly hang out in the right lane so all
    Is good.:)

I’m assuming they raised the seat because a lot of folks were complaining about the seating position. Do you feel more comfy in the 4G?

I took a 10.5 hour road trip and my seats were great. I fit like a glove, no complaints here.
