    Fuuuuck that

He's gonna socialize, get sick, bruise his knee, and go through all the shit any kid should go through

Unless it got difficult and called for special circumstances than sure

Will be interesting once we cross that bridge

One thing I will do for sure is enroll Theo into kick boxing and other similar stuff (not that karate self-defense bullshit) because taking a hit (in a controlled environment) is far more advantageous than practicing self-defense techniques that aren't applicable in the real world at a young age

I got picked on at different schools I went to, until I wasn't picked on anymore :burp: I don't condone fighting but, it was the answer when I grew up

No I agree, in my mind it's not so much about "knowing how to fight" as it is about building self confidence and discipline, both of which go a long way in preventing any kind of violence from happening in the first place.

and my other nerdy people here; neither of y'all got an extra 4790K or 4770K CPU do ya?

Neighbor's kid upgraded to a 4080 and he's letting me have the 780 TI; he's aware of my older rig so thought I'd appreciate it

I had a 4770K sitting in my parts bin but I installed it in my mom's old Dell over Christmas lol. Now I just have a spare 2500K, 2320, 3570K, and a bunch of older gen stuff.

Damn; I want to do another parts build as I have multiple extra sticks of DDR3 and DDR4

A 780TI would be correct for a 4th Gen Intel so looking for one of those

I got rid of my 4670K yeeeeeeeeeeeeears back when either the CPU or MOBO died; forgot what went out on it

I swear it's the motherboard 99% of the time. LinusTechTips did a video covering new Chinese 1155, 1150, 2011-v3, etc. socket motherboards being manufactured (with modern features like M.2 lol) to keep up support for those older CPUs. My friend just had his 4790K die on him and he stuck a used reputable brand motherboard in it off eBay. But people know that they disproportionately fail compared to the CPUs so they charge a premium.

Those Chinese boards are interesting but I'm sure there's all kinds of questionable stuff installed on them.

And it looks like PLD has found his game. I feel like they should be able to catch Vegas if they can keep on this track.

    I've seen those!

But on an aging platform, and with how cheap name-brand (and high-end) motherboards are it'd make no sense to buy a Chinese variant even for those 'newer' features

Hell, even the sata ports on an LGA 775 motherboard take advantage of plenty of speed offered by an SSD...what do you think my old Core 2 Quad 9300 runs? OS and games are on an old Samsung 840 EVO SSD I had laying around -

So running M.2 on even a 3rd Gen Intel is pointless as the sata ports are plenty fast enough for a cheap SSD

Here's having tossed in a Crucial SSD in my 3rd Gen Intel Thinkpad -

But yeah you make another valid point, what else is that shit running on them?

You should buy one and find out!

I just mentioned how people are marking up those used name brand motherboards. I wasn't advocating for the Chinese ones. I was just explaining how supply of those used motherboards is drying up far quicker than the CPUs themselves. And the only alternative is interesting but not a viable option either. Just found it funny that they had decided to add M.2 of all things.

Just sucks that people realized and started thinking their old 1150 boards might be worth more now than ~5 years ago. I'm sure there are still many local deals to be had, I just live in rural Texas so online is frequently the only option.

    Really...short supply in Texas?

I'd think you'd have a ton of people sitting on old rigs locally (cause, so many?).

You can't really play much (if gaming is the goal) with GPU's running such little VRAM, and even though games have never been CPU intensive, they tend to utilize CPU resources even more at resolutions like 1080P where the GPU just isn't needing to work at all.

    Crazy I guess
