Did you get the plug and play harness for it? If so its a simple install, the factory controller harness plug is in the left kick panel. It's way up in there. It took me awhile to find mine, but it was there.

Yep, plug in each end and run the ground wire, then try to tuck the cable out of sight best as possible.

That'll be easy. Hardest part is finding the factory plug...

I'm not loving the controller location.

Unless you are running multiple trailers loaded and unloaded, you won't be adjusting the P3 much.

I have the same unit. I adjusted it for the RV 3 years ago. I haven't adjusted it since. The only time I touch it is doing a brake check before I connect the RV.

Just seems kinda unsightly in that position.

    Just my opinion.

Do you have any idea what is meant in this note, 12/2 space? I'm not aware of a junction box on the 2nd floor, nor am I sure what a knee wall is...

I think they ran a circuit of 12/2 wire for an optional wall ac. A knee wall is a short wall in your upstairs. Usually a kids room or a bonus room. It may be entirety an attic.

12/2 is pretty robust, so it would power a decent window AC with ease .

Looking at the pic of the main panel, I'm betting this unterminated wires are in reference to your notes.Screenshot_20240221-223019.png

Ok this makes a little sense, the upstairs has the bedrooms in the middle of the floor plan with a crawl space on either side. One side has the heat unit installed. There could be a junction box in there I don't recall It's been a few years since I was in there.

 I was thinking it was a location...

    That seems logical.

Ok, I see it now. I'm going to have to find the other end of that. If it in the same space as the heater, it would be just a few feet above that A/C fuse box. I'm wondering if I could use it to extent out to the barn?

That it's been that way for 15+ years, or just that he did it that way?

The spare wire is only a 2 conductor.
    12/2 = 12 gauge wire x 2 - there will be a black, white and ground.

Your barn circuit is 4 conductor:
    L1 - black
    L2 - red
    Neutral - white
    ground - bare copper

    1) You could have started a fire, got knocked on your @$$ or worse :bananadead:

    2) To do a hack job like that deserves a :smack:

Another consideration is what society expects. Times were alot different when your parents were raising you and your sibs.

Unrelated, great discussion on residential wiring  Lots to learn on a truck forum…

What's the L2-Red for? The barn is only a 120v circuit, I'm familiar with Black, White and Copper ground. But I've only seen Red when making a double switch light connection.

Edit: I know the wire going to the barn has a red, but I don't get why it needs it.

For 120v it doesn’t need the red and black, if you could use the 12/2 out of the panel you would just hook up the black, white, and ground, and not use the red. 12/2 is good for 20 amps. It’s hard to say if the red wire is being used in your scenario, but the installer could have split the conductors, and used red for one circuit and black for another while sharing a neutral. You’d have to take the box in the barn apart to find out.
