It doesn’t get hot when I rip on the truck it’s pretty much just going up and down hills. I should probably still upgrade I suppose

First 150 miles are behind me, this is the oil. Doesn’t appear to be sparkly which is good. Drain plug magnet had stuff on it, which is normal I suppose. Brand spanking new engine, so I guess that’s pretty normal. The oil is pretty dirty though. This oil was high zinc break in specific oil.

edit forgot to mention I’m sending the sample off to Blackstone to see what’s up. I’m really paranoid of issues.

I replaced it with 10 qts of shell 15w40. Slightly overfilled this time, but rather have slightly too much than not enough.

My oil catch can, which pulls air from the valley plate, then returns it to the intake, was about half full after 150 miles. That was a little much, I’ll just have to keep an eye on it I guess. Is there any reason I shouldn’t just return that oil back to the pan with a hose?

Is it a catch can or AOS? I know for the Subaru world running AOS systems the oil just drains back in

I think those are the same thing. Catch can just doesn’t return it I’m assuming.

ah wait. If I did that, it would be pulling a vacuum from the top of the crank case and from the oil pan. Definitely can’t do that. Question answered lmfao.

    Uhhhh

    you’re 15800’s: IMG_0904.png

    times 2 is 28000 BTU’s

    my 15845:IMG_0905.png

    37,000 BTU’s.

am I missing something? My cooler setup seems like it’s a whole third better than yours almost. Maybe we’re both screwed?

That makes sense, cuz a converter only really creates heat when its slipping, so when you're just driving normal it's not slipping. Going up hills it will be slipping a lot more and heat up.

yep might both be screwed lol. That's crazy the difference, seems like yours has way less surface area and half the fan area, but what do I know

Welllllll, first rips on the truck. These videos don’t do it justice, average speed was probably 40-45 mph. Covered about 2 miles in the video.

    officially broke the truck too…..
    IMG_0907.jpg

The driver side headlight is no more. Broke 2 of the 3 mounting tabs. Crazy how fragile that shit is. I don’t really know what to do to prevent that from happening or how to fix it without replacing the headlights.

Anyone have a good waterproof relay box for my bed setup? The Amazon setup stopped working and right now I just have a few relays sitting in the bed flying around.

It’s going back to the exhaust shop tomorrow, I’m getting another resonator put in. It drones so bad in the cab it’s nauseating. I’m also putting in an exhaust Valve, so I can make it even louder than it is right now. Should sound insane.

I really appreciate it man. Now only if I can get a center console to make this thing not feel like a pile of crap.

Honestly i'm glad all this came up, learned lots about derale coolers. So mine are a tube & fin style. @Pittsy 's are a stacked plate style which is much more efficient. Basically, I cheaped out. But now I know.

So I'm going to run one of these coolers for engine oil, and I'll run the other one on my Tundra as a tranny cooler (I've been needing to do that badly anyway). I will order two more coolers for my trans. I've already cooked one stock trans, and this one will be run a lot harder, and I paid a lot for it so don't want to risk it.

Probably two of these at 46,000 btu each: https://derale.com/product-footer/f...ne-oil-cooler-kit-with-spin-on-adapter-detail

Or maybe save a couple hundred and just run one of these: https://derale.com/product-footer/f...rs/hyper-cool/hyper-cool-extreme/15870-detail

do you know if they replaced the o ring on the oil pickup? I did mine and added the lsx innovation brace they make since it only has a bolt on one side of the tube.
But normally mine floats around 40-45 at idle I think.
