Any of yall had trim this area? Not talking full on chop, but maybe taking back some of the plastic? Trying to figure out the cleanest way to go about it. Don’t rub at full lockout, but 3/4 there I get some.

    Hello there.

I’ve drifted in & out of this thread. I have a garnet (Sunfire Red) 95 2wd with retro red/orange/yellow side stripes & a South Carolina flag as the tailgate. It’s a big toy Tonka Truck, old school-style.

Recently, I had a series of repairs that ended up costing over 2K.

Just busy being a dad, doing some reenacting, & some other stuff.

While here, anyone checkout the yellow pickup for sell in Pickens through Facebook Marketplace?

I probably don’t need another truck- esp as I’m hoping to get a Stout when it’s released.

But, the $3200 yellow one intrigues me.
(Screams “Pizza Planet Truck” to me)

Update. I’m a dumbass, and I believe it’s also touching my body mount. :/ (at full lockout)

I’ve seen so many folks run methods, with a zero offset, and 275/70/17’s with no issues at all. So.. I’m confused.

I don’t have adjustable UCA’s but I do after aftermarket ones that accommodate up to a 4” lift. I’m 2.5” lifted. No rub, not even close, in the front. So.. idk.

Where are you located? I just got Chad at BashFab to do my CMC two weeks ago in the Columbia area. I'm sure he can hook you up

    his website says $350: https://www.bashfabrication.com/shop/p/cab-mount-chop

I got him to do a bunch of stuff for me and it all came out nicely. Chad is a good welder and fabricator, and is easy to work with.

Cut the cab mount, or get a better alignment. Pretty much your two options there.
You probably have too much caster. Dial it back to 2-2.5* and it'll bring the tire away from the firewall.

Suggest watching this if you want a better understanding of how tire size, offset, and alignment all play together.

I think I may pretty maxed. Think an alignment will still help?

Or, before the chop, maybe adjustable UCA?

Got a chance to speak to him, and I’m probably just gonna have him knock it out for me. Seems like a real cool dude. Can’t thank you enough for the recommendation. I’m about two hours away, but it’ll be worth it.

So, you had it done on your 2020? Mind shooting me over a final product picture? lol

No problem man. He also welded up spindle gussets and cam tab gussets at the same time. I'm going to trim my fenders, tub the inner fenders, smash down the pinch weld, and relocate my air box intake to the cowl in the next few weeks. I've got some new wheels and 35x10.5s in the basement waiting to go on any time now.

Wow, looks exceptional! Man.. this gives me such a major relief.

At full lock, or when approaching full lockout, how much space do you have now with the current wheels you’re running? (From chopped part to actual wheel rubber)

Also, running 285’s now? Or 275’s? Sorry if you already mentioned. I know those 35’s are gonna look great.

I've got 285/75r16 on right now and rubbed like crazy on the cab mount anytime I went wheeling. My truck's specs aren't really going to be apples-to-apples with yours because I have those BTF LCAs that advance the ball joint almost an inch forward. That said I do think the CMC with some plastic trimming around the bottom would've eliminated the rubbing at my current tire size.

Makes sense, and I appreciate that. So, given my photos of the rub, you think the chop will give me plenty of clearance with my current spec of things?

Honestly no one can tell you for sure, especially when considering what happens as the suspension cycles at full lock in either direction. But yeah my feeling is that you'll have plenty of clearance for daily driving.
