For those who have installed an awning, do you have any fixes for the gap between the awning and the side of the camper?

 

Hey, what did you use to cover the rear hatch opening at the top? I have tried a few different weather stripping options, and I haven't loved any of them.

I used the product below. Probably the same as any tailgate gap cover.

I was worried about this at first but after many downpours it's become less of a worry.
Doesn't seem to bother me as much as I thought it would.

 

I've started making the tent insulation with the following materials:
Layer facing inside of camper is a 1.6oz hyper D material
Insulation is clima shield Apex 5oz/ sq yd
Layer facing the tent is a 1.1 oz ripstop nylon.
I've completed 1 side of the tent wall in 2 segments. This will make it easier to take down and put up. I'm still trying to figure out the head and foot of the camper walls.

 

I have completed some testing with the insulation. I had the petrol heater running, it was 31 degrees fahrenheit and snowing.
I used an infrared temperature gun to see the Temps of the walls under the insulation and the surface after running the heater for 40 minutes. Pretty stoked with the results.

Did a little work on my camper, insulated it, carpeted it, made a little cubby cabinet with countertop, placed my water tank, and plastered it with patches.
I also added the switch panel in the rear. I still need to add inside and outside lights, then run the power.
I still want to add a couple of shelves above the water tank and below the counter top.


Added another cubby and stiffened up the countertop. Also rerouted the refrigerator wiring, now it is out of the way.

 

This looks great! I like the idea of having the drawer on only one side. Good work!

 

Do you have a cost estimate for the project? Very interested in trying some similar and I'm checking out different fabric and insulation options. That's some great results you got from the test run.

 

I spent a little over $200 for all of the supplies.

 

Opened it up a little, now to get some camping in!

 

I figured I'd share my upcoming OVRLND build over here. Not a lot going on over on tundras.com for these campers. I'm ditching an AT Atlas and I built a flatbed for my tundra for the camper to sit on. I think my favorite thing about OVRLND so far is the ability to customize pretty much anything you want. The camper should be done mid July and then I'll be sharing some build progress as we go.

Hi all, I have a question. I have an 04 double cab Tacoma with an Ovrlnd camper on it and it has a flip up hatch on the driver side. I’m wanting to build some sort of table that I can attach to that area when the hatch is flipped up and stow away when not in use. Has anyone done this or have any ideas?

 

I would be interested in others ideas as well.

 

I’m in process of configuring my build, did you go asymmetrical doors to accommodate a swing out spare tire? Trying to figure out if I can pull off a smaller 18-20” barn door on the side my spare swings out to pass through behind the tire.
