    "I remember when"...

EDIT: to explain this better...lol...what caused this trigger?

    That's what I'm responding to...in a musical sense.

Why was this posted? I have no idea...but it feels like it's making fun of the engine in my truck.

Same for me, mine had 15,000 on it, I was just in the right place at the right time and made the right decision. That's the way I tell the story anyway, the truck probably has different version.

    Get Away!

That was the price of the least expensive TRD Pro when I bought my Sport in 2021.

I wanted to stay under $40K threshold and got my Sporty Spice for MSRP $38,803.

You are not the only one who notices this. There are a lot of people who are just miserable in the lives, always trying to start shit, and extremely negative. The root of these issue has nothing to with Tacomas, but unfortunately many of us have to deal with it. Misery loves company. Use the ignore feature, it helps.

I wish Toyota Canada would give us the options that the US site has. We have limited options when ordering or building from scratch. I knew I would be keeping this truck for a while and I wanted leather, moonroof and a 6ft box. Only way I could get those was with a Sport Premium. Almost ordered an Offroad but coming from an F150 I couldn't go to a 5ft box. Was already giving up enough box space as it was. Even though the box is shallower and narrower than what I had the extra foot makes a huge difference. My ice fishing tent fits down the one side perfect and gives me room for everything else. Even in the summer when I'm loading for the lake that extra foot makes a huge difference. If I could have built an off-road with a 6ft box like our friends south of the border I probably would have but my options were limited. Like the OP said, this one checked off the most boxes for me.

I have an old sport. You get:
-stronger rear diff, mech LSD (that everyone changes)
    -good seats
    -paint matched exterior
-a visibility-reducing fake hood scoop that people want for some reason
-linear instead of progressive suspension which doesn't matter, everyone changes it.

If you don't have a locker, you can put one.

It's still 4x4. It still has tow package. No auto trans cooler as it's manual.
Not aware of any difference in the OR besides
    -smaller rear diff
    -ugly chrome
-a different bedside sticker; doesn't matter. Shouldn't be any stickers on body paint regardless.

    You can install that.

I chose Sport since, 99% of my use will be on roads and mostly paved at that.

The forum leans heavily towards off roading, or people that like the idea of off roading. Nothing wrong with the sport but as others have said, I think you get more bang for the buck outta the Off Road. All trims have their place, any Tacoma is a good Tacoma in my world!

The TRD-Of Road is for dudes with weak egos. The sticker on the bed side makes them feel better. Same dudes that need to go out and buy a 4x4 badge to put it on the tail gate. Because everyone needs to know this truck is an off road vehicle.

    Sport life forever.

2018 DCLB Sport here, as I didn't want the Off Road. I don't want the black trim to deal with, don't need a locker, never had one and will never need one. I don't off road in any serious stuff and if I did, I would take my 99 SR5 which will handle anything you can throw at it and can get into more places than my Tacoma. I also didn't care about the glorified cruise control as I don't want the repair bill when it breaks. Now a locker is cool if you need one. The crawl control and locker only can be used in low range and it's been years since I ever used low range. The Sport also looks better and I have never been blinded by a reflection off the scoop, come on man seriously a little sun blinding. Put on your big boy sun glasses.

Unfortunately the only time I’d go off-road would be not on purpose or weather conditions , after all we pay a lot of taxes for our shity roads.

I drove a sport when I was looking . It was well equipped but I didn’t like how stiff the ride was and they didn’t have one in a manual transmission. I went with the off road and been happy since .

I don't dislike TRD Sport trim, almost brought one.
But, when I price out the TRD OFF-Road and Sport, they were the same price for V6-auto short bed.
So, I went with TRD OR and it has Crawl control and Rear Diff lock, so same price with extra stuff.
