I could of kept my transmission in… but the 3.6 gears are way more fun/reasonable on the highway

I sat here and read this whole build thread this morning. I love reading and seeing other people's builds. Never owned a subaru I've always liked them. My brother had a 2018 sti. That I drove a couple times and surprised how fast they are.
Any updates on this thing seems to be awhile since your last post.

Nothing major has happened. Still saving up for the clutch, which is roughly $2k plus the install. Not something I really want to do myself, although I certainly could. Just been driving the car and keeping it around E40 or so to keep the current clutch happy-ish. Need to fix a few more things that mileage and age are getting to. The center carrier bearing for the driveshaft is starting to fail so I ordered one of these for the replacement:

    https://www.jxbperformance.com/prod...eshaft-center-support-bearing-carrier-upgrade

I also need to replace the evap valve in the engine bay and redo the driver side outer CV boot since the clamps that were used on the new boot have loosened up over a few months of driving. Cheap clamps I guess.

The car drives great otherwise and none of the current, small issues are preventing it from being driven.

That's a chunk of cash for a clutch. The last clutch I bought was a monster stage 2 for an ls1 Camaro. With all the arp hardware and the tick performance master cylinder I think I spent around $1100. Ended up installing it all myself.

I'll add that master cylinder with that clutch drove like absolute sh*t too.

It is expensive. Dual disc ACT clutch. Comes with a flywheel specifically for it, which obviously bumps the cost up a bit. It's rated at something like 780ftlbs at the flywheel. On E70-ish, my engine is putting down 460ftlbs to the wheels. Guesstimating roughly 25% drivetrain loss, that puts torque at the crank around 610ftlb+/- , if I did the math correctly. The current clutch is only rated to something like 500ftlbs at the crank. It holds for a couple pulls but gets hot fast and that's when it slips real bad.

Guess I was off with the 25% powertrain loss. Talked to my buddy and he told me powertrain loss is closer to 20%. So that puts torque at around 575 ftlbs at the crank and horsepower at about 650. Still over the rating of the current clutch.

Finally had to replace the OEM headlights. The lenses are just trash and need some serious work to maybe get them right.

Amazon cheapies but they are working and I was able to transfer the HIDs over to them from the OEM headlights.

Clutch is done and the driveshaft center carrier has also been replaced. Drives way better with the twin disc clutch and the pedal is no where near as heavy. ACT did a great job with this clutch.

No, I don't want to repaint the roof like I did the trunk and hood. Such a pain in the ass. And I'm not ready to have that done by a shop either. Wrapping the roof isn't too bad and is something I can fairly easily change up every now and then. Just gotta keep that silver covered cause that is ugly as shit.
