    Appreciate you patience!!!!

So I advance the engine till both keyway's and indention's are in line with the alignment mark (or the tab sticking up) then mark the links and replace the cams?

That dot on the sprocket is the one you want to align with the alignment tab on the head that is referenced.

There you go. Now mark that link, remove the sprocket, and align that link with the new sprocket.

Last pic and signing out for night. These are obviously marked right with the correct sprocket to be inserted. Will send you a pic tomorrow once I have them in.

Many, many thanks to you all for your help.

Mark the link and stuff a paper towel down in the hole. Then break out the 17mm and 24mm and pop that sucker loose.

Just to let yall know I am stuck until Monday before getting back at this (need wrench extenders/square tubing) and my friends welding shop is closed. One thing, my 24mm box wrench is not entirely snug on the cam shaft. Anyone else experience that?

Yes, I actually had Sunex one slip and dump the cam over. I went and borrowed a Snap On Flank Drive Plus from a diesel mechanic buddy. Liked it so much I bought the entire metric set piecemeal off EBay over the course of a year.

15/16" open end is just a touch smaller if your 24mm has too much play

OK, cam bolts are loose. Moved link just up to edge of timing tab. Am I still good to go to replace the cam gears? Read I am not supposed to turn engine counter clockwise but can you move it just slightly to adjust if necessary?Cam Loose.jpg

Stuff a towel into the dead space, Pop the nut off- wiggle gear out. Replace and you're done

Is this seated yet? It did slip past the dowel pin.

Really hard to tell from pics of it's fully seated. Just make sure it's flush. If you really want to be certain, tighten the bolt, rotate the engine several times, loosen the bolt, and then snug it up again. Might even put a drop of loctite on it. My buddy had one back out and ruin his engine.

I snugged it up and it does move any further back. Here's another picture. I was wondering about the loctite and if it was safe to use.

Your call on loctite. As long as it's flat when you torque it down, you'll be fine. Maybe put a hair bit more mustard on it when torquing it.

It's a snug fit. Just rock the sprocket back and forth to make 100% sure it's seated.

If you refer back to this pic- your dowel is further seated into the gear. It should set the same distance into the new slot. Refer to passenger side seating depth for reference
