When giving a friend a ride in your manual car and you do that awkward lurch bullshit in first gear from a start.

This reads and looks like one of those AI written books on Amazon. Apparently there's a lot of them and childrens books are one of the easy ones. To prove my point, I just asked Chat GPT to write me a child friendly story for early readers about horse shit....

"Once upon a time in a sunny little village, there lived a curious horse named Whinny. Whinny had a coat as brown as rich soil, and his mane sparkled like golden hay. Whinny loved exploring the meadows and playing with his animal friends.

One bright morning, Whinny trotted into the heart of the village, where the children played and giggled. As he strolled along, he noticed something unusual – colorful flowers blooming in the gardens. These flowers were the happiest, brightest flowers anyone had ever seen.

Whinny was puzzled and turned to his wise friend, Mr. Owl, who perched in a nearby tree. "Mr. Owl, why are the flowers so happy today?" Whinny asked with a twinkle in his big, brown eyes.

Mr. Owl hooted and explained, "Whinny, it's because of your special gift – horse poop! Your droppings are like magic fertilizer, making the flowers bloom with joy and colors."

Whinny blinked in surprise. "My poop is magic? That's amazing!"

The news spread across the village, and soon all the children gathered around Whinny. They giggled and thanked him for the beautiful flowers. Whinny blushed and felt proud of his unexpected talent.

From that day on, whenever Whinny wandered through the village, the children cheered, "Hooray for Whinny and his magic poop!" Whinny would blush and playfully flick his tail, happy to bring smiles to everyone's faces.

And so, in the sunny little village, Whinny discovered that sometimes, even the most unexpected things could bring joy and magic to the world. And they all lived happily ever after, surrounded by the colorful blooms of friendship and laughter.

    The end."

I was going to say when it slips out and doesn't go back in but jams instead, but that was like 3hp of damage.

TIL about an old bios setting N/2 that allows that .5 multiplier; my Asus didn't have that and allowed you to type in the ".5" as needed...or was it "8" I forget

Was stuck at 7x wondering where my .5x went

Prime95 for an hour and she never reached +65c running smoothly at 3ghz

All that talk recently in this thread (not just you, in general)

    Hopefully for something better!

    If only

Nope, I’m still there, but it’s time for some contingency planning.

I had a… let’s call it ‘unproductive’ interaction with my boss yesterday that had me leaving the room because I had exhausted my ever shrinking reservoir of professionalism.

I have no respect for him, and that was a wake up call for me.

Sounds like the realization is good though. I realized similarly just not about my boss specifically.

Likewise, the job market isn't particularly friendly here but new stuff pops up all the time so I've been applying a lot.

I’m mostly just sad and pissed right now.

I love my team and many of the other folks I work with, and my dumb ass feels somewhat obligated to finish the work that I know still needs to be done.

We just had a re-org, and I actually think our new GM is gonna do great things for us, but I still have a boss that I find to be abysmally bad as a leader and as an engineer and I have to report to him. My boss is a decent guy, but that doesn’t offset the other things for me at this point.

an I hate that feeling. If they don't respect you, how can you respect them? It's probably one of the biggest reasons I like where I work. Sorry to hear you're in a slump, but there are better opportunities out there. You a quality engineer by chance? I need a couple LOL

Twice in past jobs I had done experiments/calculations that contradicted the bosses "theory" for root cause failures, and when they stuck to their theories and the science was ignored, i realized it was time to move on. The last one refuted my calcs because I didn't account for the thickness of aluminum in my calculations (thermal expansion equation is not dependent on material thickness) and thus due to the "different" density from a thicker aluminum panel, my calculations were wrong and I wasn't good at math/engineering. Fuck that.

Yeah that's tough, its harder to make that decision when there's such a mix of good and bad.
