Drive on Fort Walton Beach

Hey all,
I am on vacation at Fort Walton Beach. I have been dying to drive on the beach. I leave tomorrow so I would have to do it soon. I know that there is a base nearby but I don't have a pass or anything. My truck is pretty much stock so it would have to be some easy driving. Please let me know!

my friends live down there. you have to have a certain decal/permit on your vehicle to drive on the beach. i wouldnt try it without the proper permits.

 

Where is Fort Walton Beach? (TW is nation-wide and world-wide)

 

Was just down there, only place I went was Santa Rosa but I had a pass to get on there for Military ops.

 

I'm from Pensacola Florida. And generally cars are not allowed on the beach. However I'm sure you can park or drive in the sand in certain neighborhoods or if there is empty lots. Just try not not get towed away. Ha

 

I stayed on the beach for 6 weeks when I was there in August of 08. I never saw any cars on the beach other than the life guard ones. Though it may be possible, there were lots of tire tracks when I would run down the beach.

Its about 1 hour drive east of Pensacola FL and 1 hour south of Montgomery AL.

Thank you... Being on the west coast, I never heard of it before. Only one beach in California is open for driving (Pismo Beach) in central California... Never been there (on the sand that is)... Baja California is my beach of choice (photo below taken south of San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico's Gulf of California coast).

 

I live here in Destin, in between FWB and Panama City and you can only drive on the beach in Walton County (Santa Rosa Beach) with a permit althouth now you can't just go in and buy a permit. You can only get a permit through a lottery.
