Once that lottery ticket comes in, you're first on my list!
I guess i'm excited about the $300 since i just stepped off the possible-supercharger-upgrade train. Sure, all the power i could ever eat, but at $10x this IMS, and a permanent premium-fuel diet.

If i can squeak just enough towing muscle from this and maybe a cold-air intake, i'll be pleased as a pig in poop. Of course, with my luck, it'll still need a re-gear, then i'll be in just as deep as the supercharger upgrade, but this method's way more fun for me (...right?).

Your truck comes with cold air intake, like all modern vehicles. “Cold air” aftermarket intakes on modern vehicles only make noise.

That said, I love my noise maker poor man’s TRD intake.

    Damn! Sorry Great Dane! :threadjacked:

Junkhead, "Cold" is simply what they're called, but i agree - bit of a misnomer. It's the pressure-fed, minimized flow restriction = hp i'm after, but i have yet to find a post that absolutely verifies it makes any noticeable difference. It sounds like it's single digits, and if anything, i'd prefer my truck was quieter than it already is, so i might opt to save THAT $300.

Hey @shotgunbilly420, what are you showing us with your dash pic?

lol. XTP has been making these for a LONG time. I have had a 1/2in thick aluminum one on my single vvti 1GR in my 2nd gen for a long time. They do as described, tho 1in might be a bit much on the v6

Now throttle body spacers are nothing but a waste of money on port / direct injected vehicles.

Well the 3.5 is pretty gutless in low RPM, I’m sure Anderson has tested varying thickness??

x2 on the 2nd gen spacer. Made my own by cutting off up the base from a spare surge tank which ended up being 18mm thick. Pairs really well with long tube headers & exhaust cam gears + tune :)

    throttle body spacer … lmao!

Yeah, my understanding is throttle-body spacers can't actually DO anything on this type of engine.

Okay, and another dash pic (@Junkhead this time). So maybe you're pointing-out your mpg...? Is that in reference to the manifold spacer or the CAI? And what's the delta before/after?

The only Tacoma CAI that ever made any significant gains was the TRD 2 gen version, the 1st gen version that was for the 2nd gen tacos had issue and would throw lean codes, now there are others that claim a bit better(URD), but then in cali you gotta use a CARB legal cai. The stock tract on the 2nd gens is very restrictive. The 3rd gens OEM is much better. And grabbing air 20-30 degrees cooler than under the hood does make a difference.
I guess the thread jacking is real....sorry OP.

They cant because fuel isnt injected into the air until just before the valve or already in the cylinder (port / direct injecton). The only time they worked was on early 90s THROTTLE BODY injection where the spacer would allow for more time for fuel and air to mix into a more uniform proper mixture.

I was just showing off that my pig of a truck can still get 20 MPGs on highway. That’s on winter blend fuel.:)

Which is awesome, but have you done the mani-spacer mod and/or the CAI, and did your mpg go up or down?

For those who have installed this spacer how is it holding up? Still worth it?

Definitely worth it. Pulls better and holds 4th gear longer when towing our trailer. 5100 lbs. not issues at all.

You have anything besides this mod? Like tune, throttle body or air intake? On top of things did it improve mpg by any chance?

I have a tune and air intake but no throttle body.
