I super glued a tail light on my Camry. It was a much bigger piece than yours and a few little pieces. Lasted 'til the car got totaled 3 years later. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm trying different things, seeing what works. That cam lock strap just doesn't get as snug as I would like it to. Maybe I need to see if I can find some mini ratchet straps. I tried a couple different toggle clamps I had, but couldn't get them to work well using the factory D-ring anchor. Fabbing something custom would be ideal.

The link you included doesn't work... got cut off perhaps?

I have an idea. Hopefully my crude drawing helps make sense of that idea:

    * Make some kind of vertical strut from the rear of your wood box to the track/rail towards the rear of the cab.
    * Make another vertical strut (or two) on the bed side in the same fashion.
    * Fab up a thin L bracket that bolts to the rear most bed hold down bolt and then also bolts to your wood box.

This would give 3 very solid points of contact without much effort. Might have to buy some inserts for the track/rails though in order to use bolts to secure them but those are pretty common and cheap.

Oh gosh I almost forgot. This is imperative. You absolutely 100% have to slap it once and publicly exclaim "that ain't going nowhere" or you risk it coming loose. Critical step in the process.

Now that I have a flatbed some care must be taken when tossing things "in the back". Almost lost a #40 bag of dog food the other day... yet a penny has been riding out there for other a month. All I know is; sheet aint going nowhere till its gone.

This is a fine idea! My only issue with it is that I wanted to make this storage setup basically quick-release so I would be able to take it out and pop it back in when needed. Notice the 2 toggle clamps holding the front and rear sections together for quick-release. My initial vision was to use different types of toggle clamps to assemble and secure it. I end up hauling wood, furniture and larger stuff often enough that I'd need to be able to do quick changes.

I also have the front up by the cab pretty well secured using the sidewall tie down in a way I could spend many words trying to explain, but a picture would be far easier. Problem is there is a blizzard going on in the driveway right now, so the pic will have to wait.

I do like the idea of some kind of bracket at the tailgate end... That would be more secure than the crappy cam lock strap to the D-ring. I will let that idea roll around my noggin for a bit and see if anything comes of it. Thanks!

And yes! Definitely can't forget to slap and tug it and proclaim it ain't going anywhere before it's certified!

So somebody forgot to tell you that you would be busier in retirement than working, shame on them.

That's the key to a good retirement! I plan on doing a lot of kayaking and hopefully a lot of traveling once I retire, which will most likely be when I'm like 90 years old.

I'm too young to feel this old and worn out. o_O

I'm not worried about staying busy when I retire. There's always something to do.
Just hope I'll be able to enjoy it.

My eyes must be messing with me because I thought I saw a boat on a Wisconsin lake in February. The lakes around me have ice on them but not enough. The ice fisherees have all been canceled.

Now there's a situation where the "floating pants" would be beneficial.

Seems every year, around the Chippewa Valley, at least one unlucky boater goes overboard. People can't wait to get their boats in the water.
Usually it's from the raging waters from the melting snow. Not so much a concern this year but that water is still cold.

No kidding. My back likes to remind me every morning that I'm 76.
