Discount tire is advertising $229 a tire in that size set of 4 $916.. Oddly enough a size up is slightly cheaper than the stock Sport size.

I just got the Falken AT4W's and I live in Pittsburgh; so a similar rainy climate as Seattle but with more inclement weather. I've only had them a few days but have done quite a bit of driving in the rain. Where my old tires would spin on the off-camber pavement switchbacks and steep hills here (even when they were newer), these don't.

To get an idea of the road quality here I'd qualify it as in a state of constant deterioration. In the winter there's loose gravel and rock salt all over the place. We also have a lot of steep hills with those qualities. That list is not comprehensive btw ;). I haven't tried these off-road as I've only had these for a little while but I'm really happy with them from wet traction to how they ride on what would likely be bad fire road conditions. Tires here often only last about half or two-thirds of their rated treadwear warranty.

Although the guys at Discount Tire were pretty shocked my tires came in when they did and said that they expected them to be back ordered for some time as they just came out.

I live in NW Oregon and just ran Toyo at3 during the last bout of ice and they did fantastic. Better than the ko2s on the wife’s vehicle. They also have better hydroplaning resistance than the ko2s. A big thing for me was the weight, wild peaks and bfgs are heavy. The toyos have them beat by 5lbs or more which you’ll feel on acceleration and in loss of mpg’s

I live on the penninsula and ive ran both Falken Wildpeak AT3 and Kenda Klever AT2s about 35K on each. Ive loved them both and you can find the Kendas for pretty cheap on Ebay or Walmart. I do trips to stevens and used to have to commute to La Push 70 miles in the snow/rain and i can vouch that they were great in both.

Did you eventually get 285's ? If so, what size and how the ride quality? I'm looking to up size my tires to 33's as well.

I did go with the 285's, 285/70/17 with Methods with -12MM offset. I had the Wescott TRD Pro lift added in the front, I already had an AAL in the rear so didn't need the blocks. Have a few hundred miles on them so far and they have been great in the hard rain we've had. The ride itself is fine. I have minimal rub if I turn hard and fast, or go too fast into a driveway. I had an alignment done and trimmed and pushed back a little fender liner.

Only 1000 or so on the 255/85r16 AT4W’s. Wet/icy/light snow was impressive compared to stock OR tires. The C load range is firmer at same psi but helped the overall handling imho.

No problem at all in snow with my Michelin Defender LTX, I've been super impressed with how they do in all weather conditions.

    I agree with @Southwest Tacoma

I really like my Wildpeak AT3's, but found my Duratracs did everything just a little bit better. I don't care what anyone say's, in the rain, the rear tires spin out easy with no weight in the back, regardless of tire brand. I have no issue driving in 4hi in heavy rain.

Only thing about the Duratracs, is that they are louder, and it's simply because they are the most aggressive A/T tire out there. They come closest to a M/T tire, but with much better on road characteristics.

I concur. I had the ATW3s and they were great in the snow and rain, I'm now recently on the Rubitreks and although I haven't experience much weather yet, I have full confidence they'll be just as great for a lesser price.

Nice truck! Yokohama G015 on mine, don’t do too bad when they are new. Run Blizzaks for the middle of winter.

We tend to get a lot of black ice on my morning commute they do pretty darn good. The 3 Peak Yokos do “ok” but aren’t as predictable. Can drive darn near normal with the Blizzaks, of course most people around me are slipping and sliding all over the place.
