That fuckin guy on the Tenere couldn’t get off his bike without getting laid though.

 

So...for the past 2 days I've been looking around at old Hondas (not running) for a possible project

Put together a little cafe racer

One bike I miss more than my own was my buddy's Norton I was helping to restore when I was still in the service; he's the one that got me into riding

 

But even an old non-running mostly complete example is an easy $5k +

 

When I was a kid, some people lived up the road that had a black Mark II Continental parked out back. It was on jack stands or something as I recall as it was lifted.

One day I stopped in and asked the wife if they wanted to sell it. Sometimes when I was 13, I could score a backyard used car for $20 that only needed a battery or something trivial. She told me she wouldn't take a dime less than $6,000 for it.

I thought she was crazy. But she told a good story about her husband trading some prize palomino horse to an oil man in El Dorado AR for it. Ok whatever.
A few years later it was hauled away on a flat bed. I remember they left one of the doors open so the dog could use it as a dog house.

 

Could be fun. An old Yamaha would be great too.

He might if I ask. I think they’re in pretty good shape though since he’s a mechanics and they’re his to tinker with.
I want to get moved out of the city though before I get back into bikes… too many idiot drivers in town.

 

These guys did my fork seals in a hurry while on a trip, and I had the BEST day hanging out in their shop.

Yeah I hear ya, I mean it was easy for me driving to and from base when I was in the service but anytime I got on the freeway? Fuuuuck that I had a real close encounter that I still think about now.

I could take up riding again as I live in a small town, hence looking at bikes again.

So far all of close calls were low speed and self induced, so I’m pretty happy on a highway
