The whole shop was loaded with old bikes and bike parts. And it had a friendly dog manning the front counter.

So I got to using my bike to visit my family as it was faster (and gas efficient) since I also owned a Chevy Tahoe at the time

I'd do the 6hr drive on my bike just to visit, and sometimes drive back the same day

My worst close encounter was on the 5 where it was about 4 lanes wide

Was going to lane change, do a quick glance over (didn't see it, was at night) and this black SUV with no lights flies by me as it passes me and all other traffic

If I had moved over already (was about to) he would've easily knocked me off my bike

Was one of those people swerving in and out of lanes passing people up but even jumping in and out the right (slow) lane

 

Ooof. Yeah that’ll rattle you for a long time. I about nailed a guy on a bike who was going way too fast (on i45, in rush hour, in dark December), didn’t see him coming up from behind in the sea of headlights. Luckily I just got the finger and he didn’t get hit. Still think about that one

I try to look out for bikers, especially when it's stop and go traffic as they need to lane split and get ahead of people; sucks when you see cars just jump out to cut other people off without realizing a bike could be coming up

But...you can't do much for idiots on bikes

 

Agreed. I do the same,. I wish lane splitting were a thing in other states, I think it helps maintain awareness

 

Some drivers just fucking hate bikers; I never understood that shit

 

People are weird. Sport bikes and Harley’s seem to get all the hate, us dual sport types are too dorky to attract anything but sympathy

 

I had a lady in AZ try to kill me on my Harley for just existing in a lane. The hate is real, I ran, fucker did 130 no prob and I can get through traffic easier than a Silverado.

I've always had dirty looks at the stoplights, but I only ever owned sport bikes

I didn't know Harley riders got the same shit especially since a lot of them are older

 

Just need to be more chill...
