No I read it, I just thought maybe there was some obscure change in the coil buckets in 98 or something when I saw that. But I think they just put that cause the leaf springs are different so it carried over to the front coils too.

I’ll call them tomorrow and make sure it’s actually in stock. Websites don’t always update that quickly.

The only difference in coil buckets that exists in this platform is between 4Runners and tacomas. The coil buckets are exactly the same but the three bolts are clocked differently on the 4Runner. Same bolt spacing it's just the coilover faces slightly different if it doesn't have a separate set of holes on top but pretty much all manufacturers have double drilled top hats for both patterns anyway

Nowhere did I say anything changed with the IFS

I was using the leafpack difference as an example as to why they possibly excluded the front coils from "fitting" on older models

They're most likely playing it safe

I knew this already, as my King 2.5's were purchased for my Tacoma and I installed them on my 4R

Well, I talked about this off-site with Ryan and just told him "oh yeah I just stuck a rod through the bottom eyelet and turned the shock"

Didn't know you couldn't do that with Bilstein's as I never owned a set of their front shocks

True I better gusset and brace it with a tungsten vibranium alloy.

You can turn the bottom of any shock. Most people are just worried about the heims at the top not being in line with or perpendicular to the direction of motion. But it really doesn't matter because the front on these trucks is actually almost vertical motion there's not much twisting.

I forget what specific shock it was, he'll chime in

But yeah 2.5 coilovers could just twist but on his shocks, there was an integral part about the whole thing that wouldn't allow you to "clock" it

He was going to use his Tacoma fronts on his 4Runner

The 4Runners also have smaller tie rods apparently. I’m not really sure why they did that.

If you swap the tie rod ends on the 4R with Tacoma variants, you can use Tacoma ball joints as well

The frames are too. I’m not sure if they’re any better or stronger than the Tacoma frames though. A lot of people swear the Toyotas made in Japan are better, but idk the NUMMI stuff seems pretty high quality.

Bought @Wulf ball joints from her Tacoma, and threw them on the 4R

The only real change was minor and it was the turning radius
