What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Ordered new tires. I have run 33" Grabbers for a couple years now and they have been adequate (not terrible but I've had my issues with balancing them). I wanted to go to 35's and really liked the new Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT but they are not available in 35's with a 16" rim. Could have gotten Grabbers in 35's but that'll create other issues such as needing to replace my 33" spare, mpg's, loss of power (i have the truck tuned but not regeared) and added wear and tear. Not enough benefits for it to make sense besides the cool factor of 35's so I ordered the Baja's.
did i make the wrong choice?

 

Flat black primer from Walmart lol. But I hit it with a wire brush then soaked it in simple green, scrubbed all the grease and dirt off. Rinsed, did it again, then wiped down with alcohol and let dry in the sun the painted. Turned out good.

 

Yeah I did that a while back, I think they are stainless steel marked KIL on the head from Home Depot with stainless washers. I had to do a thread insert on two of the splash pan holes. Was a pain so I opted to get some better hardware to try and prevent future problems.

 

Obligatory night test for the Harbor freight ditch lights. I’ll say, $25 for two, not bad. Plenty bright, Came with hardware.

I originally thought about Doing four but this is plenty for camp. Rock lights next.

 

Installed Bilstein 5160s. Driver side went smooth, passenger side I had to cut the old shock out as the bolts were seized. Next up are the 6112s

 

Moving from my beloved 2nd Gen to my wifes 3rd Gen hand me down. She bought a brand new Mazda CX-50 so I got the 3rd Gen

Will be fixing some things and cleaning the 2nd Gen to get ready to sell.

 

Replaced the broken Wheelers AAL with a Deaver set!

 

Gonna miss that 2nd gen. Maybe a tune on the 3rd gen will make it better. I had a 3rd gen for 5.5 years, no tune, and couldn't keep my mind, or my eyes, off 2nd gens. Finally sold the 3rd gen, bought two 2nd gens, sold one to my son, and never looked back. Going on 3 years and still no regrets.

 

I test drove a couple of 3rd gen Tacomas, then test drove a 2nd gen and liked it a lot better. The 3rds seemed to have an uncomfortably long hesitation in acceleration I didnt like. Also the cab height seemed very cramped, and I’m not tall.

Spontaneously picked up a used hard topper (with one broken window but I'll figure out a game plan) for $600 and am so digging the purchase!!

 

Turned over to 200K today on a trip up in Teller County. Good luck I got a scenic spot for it.

2007, stock Off-Road, 245/75/16s. Recently bought it at 192K, hoping it's just getting broken in. Got a 90K service at Toytec in CS at about 198K and got a clean bill of health.

 

when I built my tent rack I used 1/8" and it was way too over built. Now that I have a trailer for the tent I have been envisioning a rebuild for a bed rack and am going to go much lighter for general gear/solar panels. 1/16 or lighter was my thought then I saw yours.

It's a 2 year old Eonon unit running Android 11 from Amazon. Not made any more but I'm sure you can find the updated version of it on there.

 

Replaced my ECGS bushing and put summer wheels and tires on. Time to get a full wash.

 

Did ya replace the grease seal too?

Warm day in eastern Ontario today.

For my ‘08 DCLB I changed rear diff and transfer case fluid. Cleaned MAF sensor. Cleaned throttle body. Changed air filters.

Can’t believe the noticeable difference in performance, way more than I expected.
