I already do this. The police department hosts a huge car show here in Warrington every year, and I'll chat with the cops all the time. I actually ended up making friends with one Warrington cop back in October 2020, when he pulled me over like a mile from my house for rolling a stop sign; I didn't get a ticket. I have no problem talking to police. I just freak out when a police car stays behind my truck for any extended period of time, or if somebody is tailgating me at night and I don't know if they're a cop.

 

I understand where you are coming from more than you'll ever know.
But that's an unrealistic expectation. You can't really ask them to "never" follow you.
I think you'd be better off sitting down and coming up a plan of action for when things like this happen.

Tell your therapist, they (he/she) can help you.
They deal with things like this a lot. I'm sure they can help you more than me. (we)
What works for me, may not work for you.

Re police, I also have a general wariness. That's been molded and shaped through time as a result of abuse of power deployed towards me and people I know. I do have a family member who serves and I'd hope he's one of the good ones.

I've had police abuse me and friends of mine, damage my property and threaten me to keep my mouth shut, and had police outright lie in court against me so I think that makes sense.

I have always said their job is tough, dangerous, one I'd never want. I see that side totally.

As for stickers, I limit myself to Toyota and music stuff. Nothing even sports related.

@Gwyns04 found my mudflap in the road in front of her house a couple days ago, and I have no idea what tore it off...

 

I figured that much out, but what could it have hung up on?

 

Could have already been cracked and just happened to let go there.

 

I was thinking a snowbank...

 

I had a bunch of scrap metal in Gwyn's yard that it may have gotten hung up on as well...
