In my vernacular it is "a/the tape" when used in the context of "grab a tape" or "hand me the tape".

Recognizing that others aren't mind readers I would say "bring a tape measure" when referring in the abstract like when packing up to go on a job for instance.

My attitude towards tape measures, if you have less than 10 you will not have one when needed. After you find one, the tape gremlin will run away with it as soon as you put it down.

I was laying in bed reading this last night thinking, I know exactly where my 3 tape measures are and I could find them in the pitch black dark. I needed one first thing this morning and 2 of my 3 weren't there! Serves me right :rofl:

I'm more amazed at the number of people that can't easily read a tape measure.

I just cringe when I come across one of those tapes that have fractions written on them.

I'm not judging. One of my best friends is a contractor and all his tapes are that way.

When I let the dogs out this morning I tried to see how far my Chameleon tape measure could extend out before buckling. A whole 8 feet. I haven't attempted my 27 year old fluorescent green Stanley Leverlock yet.

My brother would say “34 and 5 big marks past that” I had to teach him what those big and little marks were :D

When I worked in a shop, the biggest challenge I saw was people who read them like that and couldn't grasp the fractions.

This is just a quick trip around the shop at the house, there’s more than this at work :anonymous:

    First look with only stain...
    20240225_170800.jpg
And no filters! I will put a final coat of stain in about an hour. Not to darken it but to make sure I did not miss anyplace lol. 4X coats of polyurethane with wet sanding in between. Almost done.
