I'm gonna post my reply here, rather than in the private conversation, if you don't mind.
    Others may be interested.

The Gettysburg Only Locals Know... and Not Many of Them Either... with Gritto :)

There are a ton of monuments at the Gettysburg National Military Park that no one visits.
    You'd be surprised how many.
Some because they're marooned in the woods with no trail leading to them, and some that are on private land.
Trees grow, landscapes change, and trails disappear if not used.
I've forgotten more than I remember.

After we moved off the farm, I spent my teenage years in an old farmhouse on 6 acres, right next to the park.
I knew the Park intimately, having explored it by bicycle and on foot.
I also spent the Summer of '71 working for the YCC (Youth Conservation Corps), rebuilding fences, clearing brush, painting historic buildings, etc.

An old character named Colonel Jacob Sheads (retired) would come by our camp (Camp Eisenhower) a couple evenings a week to give talks.
The Colonel was an expert on everything to do with the battle.
Camp Eisenhower no longer exists, it was an old motel on land the Park Service acquired, across from the famed Peach Orchard.
Of course it was torn down after a few years (when the YCC program funding lapsed) as being unhistorical.

John F. Kennedy & Col. Jacob Sheads at Gettysburg.

Colonel Sheads had some great battlefield lore and ghost stories, I can tell you

Anyway, off the top of my head, I only remember posting here about Neill Avenue, aka the "Lost Avenue".
It's in an exclave separated from the main park.

If those pictures make it look like Neill Avenue is mowed and maintained, that's because it is.
The Park Service has an easement to access it.

The only way to get there without trespassing is to go southeast out of town on the Baltimore Pike (Rte 97).
The road goes over East Cemetery Hill, past the new Visitors Center, over Powers Hill, and crosses Rock Creek.
The road then climbs a hill at the top of which is Highland Avenue to the left (east).
Follow Highland Avenue to Clapsaddle Road on the left (north).
Follow Clapsaddle Road to its end.
At that point you gotta walk, and the trail is quite faint.

    This should help:

Number one on the map is at the end of Clapsaddle Road.
The Red Line is the trail.
Number two is the beginning of Neill Avenue.
Number three is the marker for the Right of the Infantry of the Army of the Potomac.

BTW, about a mile southeast of Point three stands the farmhouse my family lived in from 1965 to 1983.
The area in between is heavily wooded.
I used to (trespass) tramp around the woods and found Neill Avenue all by myself, before I knew anything about it.

My ex used to be available to his job 24/7 - if his phone went off, he responded.
He would not set [reasonable] boundaries with his job ... to the point it intruded on everything else in life.

Once the employer gets used to you just responding whenever, they tend to contact you even more --> and expect a response.

You are giving me childhood flashbacks!!

My dad loved the Civil War - read all kinds books on the subject..
Every summer I would go stay with my grandparents in N. VA - my dad would come for a week, we would take the metro into DC and we would go visit Civil War battlefields and shit . . . . . good times for a 6-10 yr old, lemme tell ya!

A few times, we picked up a guide and he would drive us around/lecture us on all that shit/visit these places. I remember nothing but a bunch of monuments, some cool old stone fences and tryin to envision the fields full of dead people.
In hindsight, there were far worse ways to spend my time.

Agreed. However this doesn't happen often. Maybe twice a year. Another co worker called out this morning. I usually get left alone when not on call.

Can we have a musical genre preference poll. I think I only know a few and I'm sure we're not all the same.

Also can we have a snob poll? Like which kind of snob is the most unbearable? Ex. Coffee snobs, grammar nazis, gym snobs etc.

Also can we have a where is Hobbs poll? Or what has Hobbs been doing all the time? Or @Tractorman or someone else who's been away a bit?
