just a couple of things tbh
Had a good day today! 70 degrees and the sun shining! So went and rode with my buddy that has the gold wing! Went out to blip our local moto coffee place that is basically our church haha everyone shows up on Sunday hangs out gets coffee food and meets up to ride. But one bike caught my interest this old Honda that was built for the Dakar rally that we didn't get here! Was a cool bike had 40k kilometers on it and well taken care of. Then went over to look at this 71 cl450 that my buddy is thinking of buying for a scrambler/ dual sport and man is it pretty! Then went to this restaurant called grinders that was on that TV show diners drive ins and dives and got this Philly that was great but on my way back to the bike I noticed my helmet is cracked on the peak (this is my dirt helmet) all n all a great day out riding with a buddy with someone on call because she wanted to be along for the ride haha.

Yeaaaaaah. As soon as I saw the fine dust past the air filter again I knew I had to dig down and reseal the main flange of the airbox, throttle body was disgusting but intake boot and the 3 intake valves look great (never needed to adjust valves in 180hrs of runtime).

Got things cleaned up and sealed back up and put back together enough to fire it up. Fired right up after a couple of cranks to push air out of the fuel line.

I really need to do a full suspension refresh (it's time hours wise) to change fork and shock oil out for sure

Breakfast rides are often the best for seeing unusual or obscure bikes. There's one here in PA in Ephrata on the first Sunday of the month during warmer months that years back could draw almost 2k bikes. That's not a typo. I saw all kinds of crazy stuff there in the past. One of the coolest, and I'll have to sort through a lot of old pics to try to find it, was a Harley Davidson FXR with a sidecar on the right side. Sidecar was not your conventional hack. It was mostly some tubular steel with some diamond plate for a base and a small hinged ramp that could fold up or down. The owner/operator was an amputee in a wheelchair and he drove the rig from the sidecar. Handlebars and full hand controls in the sidecar, no handlebars on the bike itself. His wife rode on the bike in the typical passenger position and had a sort of handlebar to hold onto in front of her seat.

I used to do the breakfast rides when I had a sport bike. Made a trip to the Carlisle Diner one day. Most expensive breakfast ever. $180 including the fine for not obeying posted traffic signs (speeding from a red light)

now that is wild! we have a dude that always has a side car down at blip. he use to have an old bike with a side car now he has a modern bmw with his side car. he will take people on rides and tip them in the air he is a cool dude. i agree thou the breakfast meetups are great and idk if we have had 2k minus at an event but we are pretty close to 1k on the warmer months when everyone is down there around 9am-11am its insanely packed where its hard to find a bike spot! we have been having some issues where cars are parking where people want bikes so we lose parking... even thou there is a sign for sunday asking to please park under the bridge so bikes can park near the shop.

Epharata, PA is where the big First Sunday breakfast started in my area. It started as a Ducati/Moto Guzzi/ Aprilia/ Laverda thing at Cloister Restaurant on the main street and was mostly word of mouth and a newsletter for Italian bike owners. It soon began having riders on other makes start showing up as word got out then it outgrew the restaurant. An old sewing factory across the street that was closed down became the next location, although not willingly. I started going back in 1995 when I first got my Buell. Sometime later 90's when stunting started becoming a big thing it started getting out of control and the factory owners had to put a stop to it. I will admit as much fun as some of that stuff is to watch it was only going to be a matter of time before a bystander got hit or killed so I completely understand.

The American Legion post about 2 blocks away saw their opportunity and started opening up and serving an AYCE breakfast buffet for riders. They also paid the OT for the local police to be there and oversee things. There were sometimes in the early 2000's when they pulled in over 2k bikes over the course of a few hours with folks coming and going. It's not as big anymore and I'm starting to see more 1% patch holders showing up, mostly Pagans as they're out of Reading, PA. I don't attend so much anymore but still pop in once in a while.

I think he was asking what a "1% patch holder" is. That isn't a term I'm familiar with.

To date I haven't heard of them causing any issues but they do seem to pay a LOT of attention to any older Harley that happens to show up. Maybe they really do just appreciate nice bikes but they make a lot of the regular attendees nervous and the police that are there to maintain order don't really want them there but so far haven't had legitimate reasons to make them leave.

We used to have a GIGANTIC monthly vintage bike meet in Seattle, Backfire Moto. For old Japanese and euro cafe racers. Turned into a general bike meet with thousands of bikes showing up every month. At some point the clubs started showing up and claiming the front row, being complete dicks to anyone that tried to claim an empty spot. They ended up moving the location and last I checked it was a shadow of its former glory.

ive seen a lot of videos of ones on the west coast and how they act towards other bikes that pass them or in the twisted mind they have "respect" that they feel is owed to them... so personally could care less for them

I've only had one experience with "patch-holders" on the road. Was running an errand from SD to OC and back, group of 4-5 of them cruising in lanes 2-3 at around 70mph, I was on the clock and in a bit of a rush so I just hit the fast lane and passed by them without being too obnoxious/alarming and flipped them deuces. Saw the lead guy flip me off but no one else did anything lol. I've run into a few here and there at bike meets, never really had an issue. Most are generally standoffish/cold, a couple were friendly but they mostly keep to themselves.

That said I've heard plenty of horror stories of guys getting bullied or almost run off the road by more prideful patch-holders. Seems like a dumb rule to have against fellow motorcyclists IMO, we all pay our taxes and have a right to use the road. I'm not gonna hold myself up out of some imagined sense of pride/respect. I'll wait until I can safely pass, and then do so.

ya and im sure they are not all bad but the majority i hear about em im just glad we dont really have them here or at least they dont act like children who get mad at someone else being on the road with them...

ya ive seen a video where someone passed them two lanes to the right while they were going slow in the fast lane. the dude wasnt even speeding really on his adventure bike he looked to be going maybe 5 over the speedlimit? and someone caught up to him and tried running him off the road like dude really....
