I have searched aa few different ways, but havent seen explicitly any accounts of HH on stock TRD OR Suspension. I want to update my worn OE shocks without any lift.

Am I to understand that I may need extended shocks like 5125 even if I keep the OE leafs? I would eventully get a custom leaf pack for my weight that doesnt provide anymore lift.

    Thanks

There is nothing special about stock TRD OR suspension, virtually exactly the same as the other trim levels except the Pro with Fox 2.5" shocks
Hammer Hangers are a great combo with stock springs (or stock + AAL) for ride and handling
I'd get away from Bilsteins, and move to custom valved Fox 2.0 Performance series Remote reservoir from AccuTune Off Road
The rear Bilsteins on my 22 Tundra OR were atrociously bad, they're even worse with rear coil springs.

hey Eric, just curious about this Bilstein comment. is there any compatibility or performance issues with using a 6112/5160 kit with Archive Garage products?

No, other than my opinion based on experience is just that 5100s are throwing money away, they're just not good

    Hi Eric,

I bought a set of hammer hangers from a member here who sold his truck before installing. I didn’t receive the M14 shackle bolts in the purchase. What length are those bolts?

If I buy a set of shackles from you, do they come with the bolts?

My rear end sits a little higher than I would like. Any reason for me not to go with 4 inch shackles to bring the rear down a half inch?

Will I get any extra flex from the 4’s vs. the 3.6’s? Deaver U402’s, 11 inch shocks.

No, 4.0 shackles will have less maximum droop that the 3.6s because the Deavers are longer springs. But with 11" shocks you won't get to max droop

The 3.6" shackles dropped my rear end about 1/4" over the stocks (Deaver J66 FWIW). Made a bigger difference than expected in overall appearance. The rear ride quality and handling after doing the Hammers and shackles is amazing and I appreciate it every day.

My review here if interested: drizzohs '21 off-road build | Page 11 | Tacoma World

Also installed their bump stops a bit after this and those are amazing as well. Review here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/drizzohs-21-off-road-build.748190/page-12#post-28871527

Review: Installed Hammers on 2012 w/3.6 Archive shackle. Thanks to this thread the install went really smooth. It was my second time tackling the frame rivets, which helped. I used an angle grinder to cut an X in the head, air chisel to take the rest of the head off. Flapper wheel to grind smooth with stock hanger. Pried off the stock hanger, after hacking the bottom of it off with a sawzall (for ease of access). Flapper wheel to grind smooth with frame. Then, top ones came out with the air chisel point attachment, on the bottom I used a balljoint press with a bolt. This damaged the washer welded on the top of the crossmember, but those came off real quick with the air chisel. I just added an additional fender washer in the same place during the install, since I trashed the stock one. But this approach was worth it, not having to drill out the rivets just to save the washer.

The ride improvement is significant. I really noticed the improvements at speed in rollers and big hits. It almost feels like long travel now. The increased droop really allows the shocks to do their job. It's more planted, soaks up big hits, and balanced with the front. One of the best upgrades. Crawling was greatly improved too, more articulation. Someone on here said they thought it feels like they have weight in the bed when it's empty now. I totally agree.

Eric at Archive was great to work with, responded to emails quick, and shipped really fast. Well built, great company!

That’s the exact process I’ve used half a dozen times, and it works really well. An air hammer makes the job a lot easier.

So this is my next upgrade. I've only heard great things about the hammer hangers. My only question that I have is about the crossbar. Is it necessary? How much does this help and what exactly does it help the hangers with? My only concerns with doing it is then jumping to relocate my spare in my bed and finding a way to relocate it that works with my day to day. thanks.

The Hammer Hangers are rigid, but the stock cross member remains flexible. Our Hi Clearance cross tube ties the HH together, greatly reducing the bending force on stock cross member.

Plus our tube ties HH together torsionally as well, sharing torque across both frame rails, in case you drop a hanger on a rock (How stock hangers lead to bending frame bottom flange)

So it's not necessary but it does deliver maximum ride quality improvement and durability off road.

is it possible to install just the hangers and then
It is possible to just install the hangers and then later down the road by the cross member and put that in?
