I bet you're glad to have that done. Did the gasket fail or the plastic crack?
I would suggest sched 80 joints when you can plan it out a bit and thrust blocks when you can't. Or both.

I only liked that because you took time to share it with us. What a rotten job.

@KRAMERICA that plumbing would have been deeper around here.

The plastic cracked. I think it froze during a hard freeze while I was at my parents house and water was sitting for a couple weeks in December. It being buried so shallow, it would only take a few days to freeze that far down. The water Co. notified me in January that my meter was running for 24hrs. When I first checked, the meter was barely moving. My line is so long and several attempts to tone it out and locate where it runs have been unsuccessful. I had to wait for the weather to cooperate to dry out the surrounding area and for the water to surface before I was able to find the leak. Now I know why we couldn't tone it out, the pipe ended up being 30 yards from where we though it was buried. :annoyed:

They must not understand the benefits of visiting you. Start with the summers, then they might try a winter. I would venture to say places like Medora would hook them.

It should have been deeper here too, the last time I dug it up the pipe was almost 3' down. There are a lot of BIG rocks in the area, and bringing in a rock crusher is expensive. So I imagine they were already over budget laying the line and they opted to go over or around the big rocks. Though, it's hard to say for sure why they did what they did, and guy who did it is in the ground himself so I'll never know. :pout:

Our other house was built in 1951 with some upgrades but still had some original stuff. Half the house had been rewired and the other half still had the 2 wire with cloth covering going into a screw in fuse panel in the hallway. Some of the plumbing drain had been upgraded to pvc, some was still cast iron. The supply plumbing was copper, quest, and pex. I'm so glad we're out of there.

Lol I understand a dollar an hour! The problem is, people can buy a blanket, a miniature plow or a small table for dirt cheap. Where the value is, to people like us, is the creativeness and craftsmanship, and don't forget about the time, that went into making that item. Now, there are people out there who have a lot of money and only want unique and items made by people like us, and your wife @Fargo Taco, but finding those people are like finding a tooth in that chicken coop of Shanes. I live a half mile from a lake that has multi-million dollar homes around it. No, mine is not one of them haha. I am pretty sure I could find the people, but, and this is a question I always ask myself, could I really give people that next level of craftsmanship if I had to build to their specs. Like if Shane felt like making a scarifier one day but his customer wanted a bottom plow, could Shane put the next level into that scarifier? I do not know if I could. Right now, my family and a close group of friends ask me to build them things. I have zero problem with that. BUT, they know, beyond giving me basic dimensions, they better not tell me how to build it. If they do, it gets sent to the back of the line lol. My old farmer buddy wants me to build Jenny (his wife of 55 years) a biscuit board. I asked him how big. He held out his hands for width and length. I asked him what wood. He said your choice. I asked him if he wanted a handle. He said "I told you I wanted a biscuit board and about how big to make it. I have seen your work. You go figure out the rest. I will not charge him a dime, not even for the lumber, and he knows that he will get a biscuit board that is good quality. Could I do that with a paying customer?

I'll bet most of you fellers don't see this very often:

This is what a fuel oil burner looks like without the furnace.

If you touch it off in the driveway at night the neighbors notice real quick. ;)
