does anybody know if fitment varies if using larger dealer battery

when I got my truck it had some Walmart battery that died. Dealer batteries tend to be best. Went to get one.

I went to dealer parts dept. guy pulled out a huge battery and said here you go. Was like what’s this? Looks bigger than factory.
Said yeah. It is. Different PN. More CCA. Still a Toyota battery from the dealer. That dealers policy being that is the one they sell, to basically provide customers with good strong big batteries rather than a baby one

so that’s what I got, larger than factory. Still using OEM clamp. Wondering if that size change has any affect on upgrading to aftermarket clamp.

I don’t think every dealer does this though. Went to a different dealer to help a buddy replace his (failed) also on a 2G. They said they sell the normal tiny one unless otherwise requested for the bigger one that they can also order. So IDK how common it is for people to be running the bigger Toyota battery, which is probably better for the same price. And fits.

 

The adjustable version, I sell will adjust from 6" to 7" wide. If the battery is taller than stock, you may need a little longer j hooks.
