The Chevy marketing dept should offer TFL bags of cash for rights to that video. It’s marketing gold having the “Trail Boss” save the day. They just should hold off on releasing any of it until they get their own shit straightened out and can actually sell trucks. :D

Sounds like Chevy/GMC just started releasing those 2024 Canyon/Colorados. They went from 0 on dealer sites to 10-20 at all of them in my area.

They aren’t allowed to be sold because of some software issue. They are making these vehicles way too reliant on computer programs.

I believe that was already remedied.

They are under a stop sale because the automatic breaking system is activating.

It makes me want to find another 2nd Gen Tacoma. My truck is almost 10 years old and has had no recalls other than the frame inspection/rust coating.

Not even close to abuse. In fact, the snow and stock tires significantly limit how much torque is applied to the driveline. I've also driven that same area in my wife's Forester.

The full video is out now, the break happens at 10:07:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svD7Mx2xius

The thing that stands out to me right before it breaks is that the turbo spools up. Peak torque in these trucks is at 1700 RPMs, I suspect that a combination of peak torque and being in low range led to a significant increase in torque that broke the front differential. Notice how the truck still drives without the front diff sounding like a bucket of rocks. I think the drive shaft from the transfer case broke just inside the diff.

That is the stop sale on the 2023s. There is an unlisted stop sale on the '24s. Looks like the 2024s are being shipped out though, and may sit at dealers until the SS is lifted.

Oh my bad, so 23 and 24's are on a stop sale? We just don't know what the 24 SS is? But it is still active correct?

Looks like they made the 4cyl motor just too dang powerful. Toyota will probably have to use the 3 cyl Corolla motor for the 4.5 gen. Im sure it will be fine in a truck.

(What, Toyota would never do that! oh wait thats all they have done for many years now)

One of the Youtube comments mentioned the traction control kicking in while power was being applied (right front wheel braking while receiving torque) - this theory is a little out there, but I guess it's possible.

Toyota USA probably went with a plastic front differential driveshaft to make money on us :anonymous:

Why are there so many unpainted pieces? The front drive shaft is already super rusty too.
