We used to put bike race on Honda 100s. Stock engine, whatever bolt ons you wanted. Not allowed to open the engine case. Things got slightly dangerous and competitive. Especially with the relay races and some beers involved.

You probably don't know what the XR1200 is. It's a really fun bike and handles good enough to chase down some sportbike riders. It's not your typical sportster.
If I didn't need the money, I'd hold onto it.

Saw one a guy had changed to ohlins, race spec brembos, forged wheels, the whole 9 yards. Wouldn't mind giving that a rip at all and I'm def not a Harley guy. I will say tho, the bagger races at MotoAmerica are cool af

Yeah, the bagger races are very cool, even though the bikes are modified. Love seeing the racers handle those beasts on the roadrace tracks !

I have the upgraded Showa shocks and front fork kit, that made a HUGE difference. The stock rear shocks were junk.

The xr is the flat tracker platform? That may be about the only one I’d consider. Just never been a Harley fan. Overpriced overweight underperformers.

No, it's not a flat tracker platform, but was modeled after the old flat trackers. Look at that beefy swingarm, no other Harley has that, plus the pegs are in sportbike position, not up front like on the cruisers. It has Buell heads on it for more compression and HP. It wasn't overpriced at all and the performance is pretty good. Certainly not a sportbike, but very capable.
When I read the reviews on it in 2009 which said Harley finally built a bike that can handle well in the twisties, I had to have one.
It really is the best handling Harley ever built for the street, except of course the new Pan America adventure bike, which I heard is pretty awesome.

Is that the final word. Interesting. Funny thing with that, usfs approved exhaust... Most red sticker bikes that will get grandfathered in don't come with one and won't have one available that will fit so still technically illegal.... Classic California. If this state didn't have such beautiful weather (socal) and epic riding.... And family n friends. I'd be out of here!

There are actually dealers that sell them around CA. I just don't think they can ship from Amazon due to wacky laws like prop 65 and CARB stuff but from a form level that the dealer can uphold via a "closed course competition" clause that you'd sign.

Have you ever ridden any type of Harley? You overpriced, overweight, underperforms comment seems to suggest that. Just wondering.

tbh do they have any bikes under 10k? last time i was at a dealer walking around not a single one was below 15k...
