Got like 40k miles outta these cheapo Bilstein s before one of them broke. Not bad I guess. Would love to have replace them with some kings but they are on like an eight month backorder. Oh well. Out with the old, in with the new

And apparently I have fallen down the Tacoma modification rabbit hole again. Looking into getting an add a leaf for my Dakar Springs and possibly doing an archive garage hammer hanger set up

Man bun!!!! Its been a long time since I helped you replace that first diff you blew up with your supercharger and complete lack of discipline on the skinny pedal. How many have you been through now?

Dakars are trash. No one runs a shackle flip anymore. Chevy 63s or hammer hanger with 14s or go home.

What’s up buddy! I’m on diff number five now  Could have bought a custom diamond by now.

I was thinking about getting an add a leaf for my dakars just because of all the weight in the rear end. Plate steel bumper with swing out and full-size spare plus the rooftop tent. And nowadays I run boot camp classes every other weekend so I have over 300 additional pounds of workout equipment in the bed.

sounds like you wouldn’t recommend Dakar… What are your thoughts, custom Alcan pack or something like that?

Looking into either Dobinson or Deaver. The “medium weight” packs look like they should be perfect

I had a custom Alcan pack that was built for 1500lbs over the rear axle and had no complaints. Only reason I got rid of them was I went to 14s which the Alcans couldn't utilize, which is why I went chevy 63s.

I dont have any personal experience with Deaver or dobinsons but I have mostly heard positive things and none of the negative stuff like you'll hear about dakars sagging and turning W shaped and not being able to hold the advertised weight. I wouldn't waste my time with an AAL on that pack, you'll still be disappointed.

What's the stage 3 rated for?

I think that'll be a solid setup for you. Have fun with those rivets on the stock hangers. They suck ass to remove.

I didn't have the luxury. Angle grinder, metal bits and step bits.

But then you'd be going down the chevy 63 habit hole. Which is a lot of cutting and welding and very expensive. I do a lot of things over the top and like to encourage stupid behavior when it comes to other people's wallets, but honestly you've put together a decent rear for what you wanna do. I'd probably have those axle tabs cut off, order or cut new ones and have them re-welded for the new shocks.

Nothings necessarily wrong with them for your current setup, but if I understand things correctly, when they were installed they should have been dialed in to your shocks. You have a shock tower relocate right?
